Student Expectations

Be Respectful
o Respect the classroom space, materials, classmates, the teacher, and
yourself.
Be Responsible
o Be on time and prepared for class, and be ready to work.
If you are late to class and do not have a pass, one will be
crossed out in your student planner. Four tardies will result in
a loss of all pass privileges for the quarter. If you are tardy and
do not have pass privileges, you will be referred to the office
for disciplinary action.

Grading

Grades will be based on a total points system. Points are earned through class
notes, weekly assignments, and projects. The points will be totaled at the end of the
quarter to determine your grade. The Rogers Middle School grading scale will be
used.

83-86 = B 80-82 = B- 77-79 = C+
73-76 = C 70-72 = C- 68-69 = D+
66-67 = D 65 = D- below 65 = F
Weekly Sketchbooks

Students will have a choice between two assignments to be done weekly.

Option 1: Students may complete a drawing based on a weekly theme
provided by the teacher.
o This drawing must be on 8.5 by 11 inch paper, and must fill the
majority of the space.
o Any material may be used, and may vary by week.
Option 2: Students may complete an artists information log for any visual
artist.
o Students research an artist, any artist that creates something visual.
o Then fills out an artists information log worksheet.

Projects

Students will complete several large projects during this class. All projects can be
completed during class time.
We will be working with several different materials and processes including but not
limited to: painting, drawing, weaving, clay, markers, pencils, and crayons.

Late Work

If assignments cannot be completed by the due date then students may take the
projects home to complete. There will be no extra class time given to complete the
work, as the class will be moving on to the next assignment. Missing work will be
marked as incomplete in the grade book until it is turned in.
All work is due by the end of the quarter or the incomplete will be replaced by a 0.
