U.S. History Syllabus


Course Overview
Students will cover the early exploration and colonization of America, the causes and
effects of the Revolutionary War, the politics of slavery that build up to the Civil War, as
well as cover Reconstruction. Students will learn the essential skills of proper note taking,
organization, research as well as comparative, analytical and document-based essay
writing. In the 2
nd
semester, students will cover topics such as the Industrialization,
Progressivism, WWI, the Great Depression and WWII. Students will also be required to
research a 20
th
century U.S. History topic of their choosing, culminating in a Final
Research Report and multimedia presentation of their choosing.
