~50% of Americans create a list of new year
resolutions
More than half of these resolutions are work-related
or can be applied at work
Only 8% of these resolutions are kept.

Take the List of Tasks and pick your top priorities
If you have a couple more or less than 5, thats ok. Just be
realistic about what you have the bandwidth to drive
actively
Revise the top 5 task into a set of goals or
resolutions
Be specific
Outline what you are going to accomplish, in what time
frame, and constitutes success, what are your mile markers
Be Honest
Dont set goals that are unreasonable
Only to commit to what you can do

Evaluate your top 5 to make sure your goals align
with the business imperatives
If you are in a technical position, and your manager is
non-technical, review with your technical mentor
For your personal goals, talk with your
spouse/parents/close-friend to help you evaluate
whether these goals satisfy your personal/family values
Keep them in the loop
Provide support when you need it
Are aware of the progress you are making
Will be able to speak to your work and your
accomplishments
Having a positive attitude about your resolutions
will make the process fun and stress-free
Be flexible
Dont get upset if you dont meet every self-imposed
deadlinethe key is to be encouraged by the progress
youve made thus far
Give yourself buffer time
Failure isnt a bad thing
The key to success is knowing you have to fail multiple
times before reaching a goal
Share what you are doing with co-workers,
friends, and family
Gain new perspectives
Receive positive encouragement

Changes in the workplace or at home can cause you to
