Home Learning Policy

Key Stage 3 (years 7-9)



Expectations


All students are expected to participate fully in all aspects of Home Learning.

All deadlines should be met and tasks be completed to the best ability of the Individual learner.

Parents can expect to receive communication from the curriculum leader if their son or daughter is not fulfilling the
required expectations of a home learning project or task.

We expect parents to be aware of the home learning project that is being undertaken by their child at any given
point in the year.

Students are not expected to complete home learning tasks over weekends.

Please note:
Weekly home learning will not be issued when a project for the given subject is in action.
In addition students are expected to read a minimum of 20 minutes a day.


Home Learning Projects


Over the course of the year each student will complete six home learning projects.

Each project will be timetabled into the year and run by a different curriculum area.

Each project will last for four weeks and culminate in some form of event or celebration which parents will be invited to
attend/ view.

Projects will be linked to the students current scheme of learning

Each project will be accompanied by a project booklet which will be given to the student at the start of each project.

All students will receive written feedback and a grade within 2 weeks of the end of each project in the format on the
following page.

KS3 Coordinators/Curriculum leaders are responsible for nominating a digital
driver who will maintain all home learning information on the
Wellington Weebly Platform

Please note:
Students must be given sufficient time to complete work. With a minimum of 3 days. HL must not be issued to be
completed over a weekend.


Further Study

In addition secondary subject teachers have compiled a list of recommended
books. This list can be found on the Weebly VLE
All books will be available from the school Library
However if you choose to do so, all books can be purchased via Amazon.
It must be stressed that these are recommended text to enhance and inspire
your childs learning and are not a compulsory part of the curriculum.
