Course Description & Objectives
Students implement personal and interpersonal skills to strengthen individual performance in the
workplace and in society and make a successful transition to the workforce and postsecondary education.
Students apply technical skills to address business applications of emerging technologies, create word-
processing documents, develop a spreadsheet, formulate a database, and make an electronic
presentation using appropriate software.

Grading Policy and Academic Integrity
Assignments will be assigned a standard grade or will be simply checked off as satisfactorily completed.
Tests and major projects will count 40% while quizzes and lab assignments will count 30%, and
homework, class work and participation/effort will count 10%. You are to do your own work as assigned
in class. You will be given a zero for cheating (giver and receiver) and will not be allowed to make up the
work. Cheating includes copying from another students paper, computer folder or storage device. You
will be allowed three days to make-up a major assessment due to an excused absence without penalty.
Refer to student handbook for additional detailed information. For an unexcused absence, you will be
given three days to make up a major assessment with a progressive grade penalty of 10 points per day.
Retest Policy: refer to McAllen ISD Grading Guidelines. You are responsible for making up missed work.

Class Expectations- Upon entering this class, you are responsible for adhering to these rules.
Be on time to class and prepared on a daily basis.
Be respectful.
Complete all assignments on time.
Be responsible in the computer lab. Students will be held accountable for any damage to
equipment resulting from inappropriate use.
Sit in your assigned seat or at your assigned computer unless asked to do otherwise.
Participate in class.
Refrain from using the Internet other than for SchoolFusion and class assignments. Accessing
personal E-mail and online chatting are NOT allowed.
Proper behavior is expected. Discipline referrals will be used if necessary. In the event the teacher
should need to leave the classroom for any reason, students are to stay in their assigned seats. I will
make telephone calls during the course of the week if I feel they are needed. Be considerate and
respectful and you shall receive the same.
Refer to Classroom Plan posted in classroom for additional expectations and consequences.

Computer Rules

parties involved.
No Saving: You must report any problems with the computer at the beginning of the period or
ASAP. Do not save it for the end.
Copying of any programs is against the copyright laws.
Do not customize the computer to your liking.
Preview & ask before you print any document. You are responsible for retrieving your document
from the printer. Do not leave paper around the printer or around the classroom.

Daily Supplies
You must bring the following items to class everyday: pen/pencil, eraser, usb, highlighter, paper, spiral
and a 1 inch binder.

On-the-job training
Treat this class as you would a job. Take pride in your work because it represents you. Please be sure
you listen to instructions and follow directions carefully. This will help you be successful in this class and
in the workplace.

Attendance
Students are responsible for attending class every day. If unable to attend a class, the student is
responsible for obtaining class notes or assignments from a fellow student or the teacher. If you know
you are going to be absent (field trip, OCS, competitions, etc.) let me know ahead of time. Parental
contact will be made for excessive absences.

Passes
Ask for a pass only when absolutely necessary. Campus policy states that you will turn in your School ID
in exchange for the Hall Pass. Only one student at a time is allowed to leave the room. No passes
issued the first or last 15 min. of class. It is disrespectful to ask for permission to leave during teacher
lecture time. Plan wisely-dont abuse your pass privilege.

Dress code
