BringYourOwnTechnologytoaccesstheBYOTGuestNetworkduringtheschooldayunder
directsupervisionoftheclassroomteacher.

Alldevicesmustbeclearlylabeledwiththestudentsfullname.Familiesareencouragedtoregistertheir
personaldevicewiththelocalpolicedepartment.
Theftsofelectronicdevicesonschoolgroundsshouldbereportedtoadministrationassoonaspossible.
AdministrationwillworkwiththeSchoolResourceOfficerorpolicedepartmenttofileareportand
investigate.
However,ultimatelytheschoolisnotresponsibleforlostorstolenproperty,sostudentsshouldtake
extremecarewhenhavingvaluableitemsintheirpossession.
NetworkConsiderations:
AllStudentsmustusetheBYOTGuestWirelessnetworkwhileusingtheirdeviceintheclassroom.
StudentfilteringguidelinesarearequirementofallpublicschoolsincompliancewithFederalLaw.The
ChildrensInternetPrivacyAct(CIPA)requiresthatallnetworkaccessinschoolsbefiltered,regardless
ofthetoolusedtoaccesstheinternetwhileinapublicschool.Studentsareprohibitedfromconnectingto
aprivate,unfilterednetworkconnectionontheirdeviceusingadataplan.IPSDisnotheldresponsiblefor
anychargesincurredwhileusingthedeviceduringclassroomactivities.
ClassroomGuidelines:
Withclassroomteacherapproval,studentsmayusetheirowndevicestoaccessandsaveinformation
fromtheinternetordistrictowneddatabasesubscriptions,communicatewiththeteacherorother
classroomlearners,anduseproductivitytoolsthatmaybecurrentlyloadedonthestudentdevice.
Studentsmayusethesedevicesintheclassroomwhentheteacherdeemsthemappropriatefor
educationalpurposes.

StudentGuidelines:
StudentsparticipatingintheIPSDBringYourOwnDeviceclassroommustadheretothe
guidelinessetforthintheSchoolStudentHandbook,IPSDStudentAcceptableUsePolicy,andall
Boardpolicies.



EachclassroomteacherparticipatinginBYOThasthediscretiontoallowandregulatetheuseof
personaldevicesintheclassroomandonspecificassignments.
Studentsmaynotusethedevicefornoninstructionalpurposessuchasmakingpersonalphone
calls,textorinstantmessaging,ortocompromisetheintegrityofatest,quizorassignment.
Devicesmayonlybeusedtoaccessinformationwhichisrelevanttotheclassroomlearning.
Devicesmustbeonsilentmodewhileonschoolcampusorschooltransportation.
Devicesmustnotbeusedtorecord,transmitorpostphotographicimagesorvideoofaperson,or
personsoncampusduringschoolactivitiesand/orhours.

StudentandParent/Guardiansacknowledgethat:
InternetconnectivityonadevicewillbefilteredbytheIndianPrairieSchoolDistrictandany
attempttobypassthenetworkfiltersisprohibited.Noaccesstoa3Gor4Gnetworkispermitted.
Studentsareprohibitedfrombringingadevicethatinfectstheschoolnetworkwithanyprogram
designedtodamageorcompromisetheschoolnetworkanditscontents.IPSDreservestheright
tocollectandexamineanydevicethatissuspectedofcausingtechnologyproblemsatschool.
Printingfromapersonaldevicewillnotbeallowedatschool.
Alldevicesmustbechargedpriortoschoolandrunexclusivelyonbatterypowerwhileusedinthe
classroomenvironment.Onlyinextremecircumstancesshouldateacherallowastudentto
chargetheirdeviceinaclassroom.
Certainapplicationsmaynotdisplaycorrectlydependingonthedevice.
Usinghis/herowndevicetotransmitorshareinappropriatecontentduringtheschooldaywill
resultinlossofBYOTprivileges.Additionalconsequencesmaybeappliedbaseduponthe
circumstancesandwillbeinvestigatedbyschoolpersonnel.
Transmissionofmaterialofbullyingnatureorsexualnaturewillnotbetolerated.
Usingthedeviceoutsideoftheclassroomisstrictlyprohibited.ThepurposeofBYOTispurely
fortheextensionandenrichmentofthelearningenvironmentinaclassroomunderthesupervision
ofaclassroomteacher.

Iunderstandandwillabidebytheabovepolicyguidelinesandtocomplywithexistingboardof
educationpolicies,includingbutnotlimitedto:(1)6:220BringYourOwnTechnology,(2)
