"o!rse #es$ription: Students continue to build Spanish language sills through listening! reading!
speaing! and "riting acti#ities. $here is more emphasis on #erbal communication. Students
continue to explore the cultures and traditions of Spanish-speaing countries.

Students are expected to participate in class on a dail% basis in order to best ac&uire the ne"
language. Students should bring all necessar% materials to class e#er% da% and follo" the
expectations in place b% 'orth (oone )igh School.
Students "ill de#elop their sills and no"ledge of the Spanish language through listening! reading!
speaing! and "riting. Students "ill increase their a"areness of the customs! arts! literature! histor%!
and geograph% associated "ith Spanish speaing countries. Students "ill recei#e a list of *I can+

=articipation is a contributing factor to %our grade. ,ns"ering &uestions! participating in class and

Extra Credit "ill be a"arded to an% student that brings in an ob:ect "ith Spanish on it to add to our I
Sp% Spanish bulletin board. Students "ill also be able to earn extra credit b% sharing appropriate social
media messages that are "ritten in Spanish! are about a Spanish- speaing countr%! or are about a
famous Spanish-speaing celebrit%.
I "ill do m% best to update grades "eel% and %ou ma% chec them on =o"erSchool. If %ou ha#e an%

>e "ill be using #arious texts in class. )o"e#er! in order to mae the course more interesting I use
man% supplemental materials! some of "hich I create and some of "hich come from other sources. I
also use music! art"or! pu<<les and games to address di5erent learning st%les.
,ll students should ha#e a folder and a noteboo and the% need to bring it to class e#er% da%! along
"ith "riting utensils. Ideall% the noteboos become personal dictionaries! and "ill be bene9cial as the
student mo#es through the Spanish courses. I also recommend a Spanish-English dictionar% for home
use. .nline translators do not al"a%s pro#ide the best information?

Each da% %ou "ill recei#e points for participation. $hese acti#ities "ill include speaing to me at the
door pa%ing attention! ha#ing %our materials "ith %ou in class! "oring on classroom acti#ities! and
sta%ing in the target language. @ailure to follo" class procedures! arri#ing tard% or unprepared to
class! and other unacceptable beha#ior "ill cause %ou to lose a point.

)ome"or is due at the beginning of class. >e "ill go o#er the ans"ers as a class and the% should
be checed on %our o"n.

$here "ill be a &ui< roughl% e#er% "ee. Yes! e#er% "ee. $hese &ui<<es ma% be based on
#ocabular%! grammar! or culture. See the extra credit section for more information on recei#ing
extra points. $he &ui<<es can range from 9#e points on up. .
,t the end of each unit! a pro:ect-based assessment "ill be assigned. $hese pro:ects are in exchange
of a length% paper based test.

;ui<<es and test must be made up before or after school! not during a stud% hall since there
fre&uentl% includes a listening portion.
=ro:ects and presentations are due on the due date and "ill result in missing points. =ro:ects are to
be turned in e#en if %ou are not at school.
