The Purpose of Study

In todays working environment, the diversity of the working force varies greatly. There
might be international player in the team, or people with lack of skills and expertise that they
were expected to acquire. Things might get a little worse when there is a generation gap- in
which a new line of workers are more connected, mobile and technically literate than the
previous existing workers.
With such dynamics in a team, an effective leadership comes with a grave importance. An
effective leadership can surely able to cope with whatever diversity the team have. It is
becoming the main focus of management studies. Now, this paper brings you with two
questions to ponder:
1) Is there actually certain particular attitude or behaviour of a leader that can be
notified?
2) If there is, can this attitude influence a leadership?
For question No. 1, this paper suggests that the answer is yes- one of a significant attitude of
a leader is the way that individual express his/her feelings. This attitude can play a vital role
in leadership process. In other words, emotional intelligence, defined as the capability to
understand and handle emotions and feelings in self and others, did possesses a big influence
in leadership.
The study of this paper is devoted to answer Question No 2: Can actually emotional
intelligence influences leadership? This question brings us two hypothesis : Hypothesis 1
states that emotional intelligence carry no influence and of significant relationship with
effective leadership. In contrary, Hypothesis 2 goes that emotional intelligence did influence
and carry significant relationship with effective leadership. This paper are going to put these
two hypothesises into study.
The result of this study shall open a new dimension the management study field, in
understanding how different way of expressing emotional feeling will influence a leadership.
