Syllabus for Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, & Advanced Math
2014-2015
Expectations from Students:
Students are expected to attend each class with a positive attitude, with all preparations
made to learn the daily objective. Students are also expected to work each problem
assigned, and to ask the teacher for help if he/she is confused or unable to complete the
assignment.
Grading Procedures:
There are five grading factors that will determine a students final grade.
1. Class Notebook (250 total points)The teacher will instruct the students to keep
all class assignments in a 3 ring binder, along with important vocabulary terms,
completed quizzes and tests, and class notes.
2. Classroom Participation (100 total points)Students will be awarded a
participation points by their willingness to stay on task, focus on teacher instruction
during lectures, turn in classroom assignments on time, and generally participating
each class.
3. Quizzes (25 points each)Frequent quizzes will be given to allow students and
teacher the opportunity to evaluate their progress before taking the chapter test.
4. Chapter Tests (100 points each)Study guides will be given the day prior to each
chapter test.
5. Semester Exam (250 total points)Students may be exempted from the Semester
Exam according to the guidelines in the Student Handbook. (90 and above average
and 3 absences or 80 and above average and 2 absences).
Class Supplies:
Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II: 3 ring binder, divider tabs, loose lease notebook
paper, loose lease graph paper, zippered pencil pouch to fit in binder, 12 pack colored
pencils, regular pencils with erasers, straight edge/ruler, scientific calculator and
compass/protractor set.
Advanced Math: all supplies as above, plus TI-84 Graphing Calculator.


Absences:
Students with excused absences will have 3 days to complete the missed assignment(s)
and/or test. It is the students responsibility to turn in the make-up work on time.

Classroom Discipline:
Demerits will be issued for disruptive behavior and minor handbook violations, such as
chewing gum, being unprepared for class, etc. Disrespectful behavior towards the teacher
or other students will not be tolerated, and will result in the student being sent to the office
with appropriate documentation for their file. Cell phones and other electronic devices will
be confiscated per school policy, unless otherwise instructed by the teacher.
Restroom Policy:
Each student will receive 2 restroom passes per quarter. Unused passes will be worth 5
bonus points on any test or quiz of the students choice.
