Final Evaluation

Overall Job Performance
Courtney has done a good job this summer supporting the TJMaxx brand marketing team. She has
established herself as a responsible team member with an eagerness to learn and take on new
projects. In addition to completing projects for the seasonal and non-seasonal teams, Courtney had
the opportunity to shadow our planning and buying departments as well as the Marshalls creative
team and the TJMaxx digital team. Courtney participated in multiple Learning and Development
classes such as Understanding our Business, True Colors, and Presentation Skills. Courtney also
chose to do an optional final project and really impressed the team with her thorough research,
strategic thinking, and presentation skills. Courtney should be extremely proud of all of the work she
has done this summer and how much growth she has demonstrated in a short amount of time.

Objectives
1. Demonstrate full understanding of the TJMaxx marketing process.
Over the course of her internship, Courtney demonstrated an understanding of each channels roles
and responsibilities in addition to the overall marketing process (from creative brief to project
approval). Courtney also proved to be extremely helpful and knowledgeable in regards to managing
the seasonal samples and sample area, especially when assisting with multiple photo shoot preps.
Finally, Courtney was a key asset in training our new co-op Jessica after only one month on the job
and provided thorough and accurate explanations of how certain tasks should be completed.

2. Develop individual leadership skills.
Even though Courtney was only on the TJs team for a little over two months, she demonstrated
consistent growth in her leadership skills. She has become more confident in her role on the team
and the knowledge she has acquired. Courtney assisted team members in successfully managing
multiple advertising projects, both seasonal and non-seasonal. Courtney continuously asked smart,
strategic questions along with seeking the background or the whys behind the tasks. I would
encourage Courtney to continue to do these things as she progresses through Elon and acquires
other professional opportunities.

3. Demonstrate growth in communication and presentation skills.
Courtney demonstrated growth in her communication skills, especially in the second half of her
internship. She began to build relationships with team members and her channel partners. Courtney
attended our True Colors class in July and expressed excitement about learning how to adapt her
communication style to the person or team she was working with. Courtney should continue her
growth momentum and utilize the skills she has developed while on her semester at sea and in future
professional environments. Courtney also demonstrated tremendous growth in her presentation skills.
She was able to attend a presentation skills class in June and appeared confident, composed, and
comfortable during her final project presentation this week.

Final Project
(Exceeded Expectations)
While there was no final project required from interns this summer, Courtney immediately expressed
interest in executing one when given the choice. Within the first week and a half on the job, she had
already outlined her proposed topic and the reasoning behind her choice. Courtney took the initiative
to reach out to her appropriate channel partners for research and background knowledge and drove
her project towards her strategic goal. Courtney even partnered with our production team to gain an
understanding of costs and feasibility of her idea, as well as our studio team to have mock-ups made
of her creative design. Courtney did an outstanding job presenting her final project to our team. Her
presentation contained interactive components for the attendees and was delivered in a confident and
energetic manner. After the presentation, multiple team members provided positive feedback on how
well thought-through her project was and how it was evident she had put time and effort into the
project. Courtney should be extremely proud of her project and should use this as a positive example
for future presentations.
