Annotated Bibliography for Writing Selection 1
I wrote this paper in my American Government class in the spring of 2013. We
were asked to write about a controversial topic and to state our opinion and back it up
with facts as to why we have the opinion that we do. I chose to write about enhancement
drug use throughout sports and the bad effects they cause on our society as a whole. I
feel that my writing is always stronger when I get the choice of what I am writing about
which is why I chose this as one of my samples. I have improved my writing since this
essay, but I still feel that I did a good job on this assignment and it helped me learn how
to express my opinions through writing in a scholar way.
Annotated Bibliography for Writing Sample 2
When writing Determination to Succeed, I took this writing assignment
and used it as venting session. I expressed my feelings of how challenging
college can be and the false ideas that I and many other students had about how
much fun college would be, not acknowledging how much hard work it really is.
The stress of being a full time student as well as working full times, really takes a
toll on a student physically and mentally. I wrote this essay in the fall of 2013 in
my basic comp class. This class was the first time I had a teacher that understood
the stress the students feel and Mrs. Frazier always worked with us to make sure
we had the time we needed to do a good job on our writing without feeling
overwhelmed. Basic comp taught me that when I am passionate about what I am
writing, I do a much better job at writing in detail with logical support.
Annotated Bibliography for Writing Sample 3
The legacy letter was my favorite assignment that I have ever had. I loved the idea
of leaving such a meaningful gift to your loved ones, just in case I was to die before they
do. I do not thank my family and friends enough for all of the support and love they
impose into my life, and this assignment really opened my eyes. I chose this as one of
my writing samples because not only was it my favorite assignment but I felt that I did a
good job expressing my feelings through writing, which I have not always been very
good at. This assignment was good for more than just a grade and everyone should have
the opportunity to leave their family such a great and meaningful gift.
Annotated Bibliography for Writing Sample 4
The final writing sample that I chose was an essay that I wrote in basic comp. I
chose this essay because out of all of the writing assignments I have been asked to write
about, this was the hardest topic for me. My class was asked to write about the most
tragic event in their life. This topic was hard for me because I do not like people
knowing my business and do not like expressing how I feel. Although this was the
hardest topic for me to write about and to share with other people, it helped me more than
I had imagined. Getting out a lot of emotions that I had been holding inside helped me
have closer and made me a stronger person, as well as writer.
