Part- 1

I plan to use technology in my lesson plan. First I would like to introduce the math topic by using other similar area that they already know
and use that as a stepping stone. This will be done using a projectors and I will show them a real world problem to see if they can come up with a
solution, if not I will teach them the new topic. With that new knowledge they should have an idea how to go about solving it. Once they understood
the math topic they will be doing drill and practice in classroom if there are enough computers or go to the computer lab. This should help them have
a solid foundation on the new topic. If I see that its necessary then I might also do a project related to this topic to help them have a real world
application to make the connection with the topic.
I would like to have an All In One Printers, All In One Computer, Smart Board, projector, and an external hard drive. All of these devices are
not hundred percent necessary, but it will help a lot if I had it. For me at least a computer with internet and a projector are necessary. I need it to enter
grade and make lesson plans, and use the projectors to make them available to all of the students. The main software set I would need would be the
Microsoft Office Suite because it comes with word, power point, excel. These are great programs needed to make a presentation, make large
calculation, projects, and documents for the class. For Digital Media Applications before the lesson or after the lesson I will show them an interactive
Video tutorial for Microsoft Excel software and they must demonstrate what they learned by doing a project using a daily expense list and figuring
out how to use money efficiently. During the lesson, softwares like Math Advantage and MathXpert will be used to show visually the concepts and
examples of that lesson.

Curriculum Area Math
Subject Area Geometry, measurement, problem solving, data literacy,
Lesson Title The Young Architects of the Century
Grade Level 9-12
Recommended Equipments Pencil, paper, eraser, concrete models, a ruler, a protractor, a calculator, a spreadsheet, geometry software, mine
craft, flash drive.
Focus Question How are math concepts used in building structures?
Learning Objective Students will identify how math is used to buildings things
Use geometry to build a unique structural model
Identify the building codes that structure must meet
Identify the materials needed
Use statistics to calculate the probabilities of things going wrong and how long the structure should maintain
its integrity
find out the cost and how much should the price of the structure be to make profit
work as a group to make the final product
Florida Sunshine State
Standards
Apply geometric methods to solve design problems (e.g., designing an object or structure to satisfy physical
constraints or minimize cost; working with typographic grid systems based on ratios)
Instructions Instruct students to use the internet to find famous and unique structures from around the world like Lotus
temple, Krzywy Domek, and Ryugyong Hotel that your group wants to work on. Tell them to draw a very neat 2D
model, then use programs like mine craft to create a skewed or very basic model of that structure. After that
instruct them to figure what kind of shapes are used in that structure and find area, perimeter, equation for the total
cost of materials of the model, and the price of the structure be to make profit. Distribute an assessment rubric and
discuss how it will be used to evaluate students projects.
Students need to use the rubric and learning objectives to determine what elements to include in their
project. Instruct them to use at least three different media to find information relevant to this project. Each group is
given a specific amount of time on the computers and the rest of the time can be used to find information from the
library or work on planning for the final product with the information that is available. Get librarians permission to
sent students over to use its resources. Give them time to enter information in to spreadsheet and tell them to keep
all of their information on a flash drive that is backed up by every students email. After all of the important
information is gathered, tell them to organize and make a similar model with the given materials and present it to
the class.
Evaluation of content I will use the evaluation rubric to judge the students use of resources, motivation, demonstration and
understanding of the math subjects.
Evaluation of curriculum and
technology integration
Evaluate the groups progress at every specific interval, use of software, communication, organization, problem-
solving skills and critical thinking skills. Also evaluate students technology skills, and other skills acquired by
doing this project.
