Objective: Students will be able to explain, step by step, the actions Hitler took that led Germany to war. They will also be able to explain what Britain and France did in response to Hitlers actions, particularly the policy of appeasement. Students will finish creating an outline for their storyboard, and will begin creating their storyboard. Common Core Standards: 10.1 Cite specific textual evidence to support analysis of primary and secondary sources, attending to such features as the date and origin of the information. 10.2 Determine the central ideas or information of a primary or secondary source; provide an accurate summary of how key events or ideas develop over the course of the text. 10.3 Analyze in detail a series of events described in a text; determine whether earlier events caused later ones or simply preceded them. 10.7 Integrate quantitative or technical analysis (e.g., charts, research data) with qualitative analysis in print or digital text. Materials: Storyboard planning sheet, pencils/pens, tablets, ComicMaker HD app, tablets Directions: Begin by explaining that students should be almost done with their storyboard planning sheets, and that by the halfway point of the period, they should be done and should be moving on to the creation of the storyboard itself. Students work on and finish their planning sheets. Let them know when the halfway point of the period comes, and remind students they should now be done with the planning sheet and should be working on creating their actual storyboards. Each pair of students is responsible for one storyboard. Each one will have ten boxes or scenes in it, reflecting what they designed on their planning sheets. Students use tablets and the ComicMaker HD app to create their storyboards. Make your way around the room and monitors progress throughout the lesson. By the end of the period, each group should have at least two or three boxes finished on their storyboards. At the end of the period, tell them that theyll be finishing their storyboards tomorrow.
