RENO, Nev., June 27, 2014 The PPG
Industries Foundation has donated nearly
$12,000, on behalf of PPG Industries
(NYSE:PPG) architectural coatings facility in
McCarran, Nevada, to three Reno-area
organizations for education and human-services
programs in the community.
The recent grants helped:
Food Bank of Northern Nevada continue
to distribute food and provide support to
more than 130 different direct-service,
nonprofit agencies aiding the needy, the ill,
the elderly and children;
United Way of Northern Nevada and the
Sierra support various organizations and activities; and
Challenger Learning Center of Northern Nevada invite seven Girl Scouts troops to participate
in SciGirls/Challenger Center Simulated Space Missions to Mars that emphasize science,
technology, engineering and math (STEM) learning for girls.
Each of these organizations offer important opportunities and support in our local community, and

PPG COATINGS HELP BRAZIL, FANS
CELEBRATE 2014 FIFA WORLD CUP

PITTSBURGH, June 26, 2014 PPG Industries (NYSE:PPG) coatings have helped Brazil put on a
fresh, colorful appearance for the 2014 FIFA WORLD CUP event.
PPG products ranging from Tintas RENNER architectural coatings, manufactured in Gravata,
Brazil, to STEELGUARD fire protection coatings were used to prepare prominent venues such as
Beira-Rio Stadium in Porto Alegre and arenas in Curitiba, Recife and Natal. PPG coatings products
also were used to renovate hotels and airports in So Paulo, Campinas and Recife, and to update
transportation systems.
There are so many projects where PPGs products have been used that we cant begin to name
them all, said Carlos Santa Cruz, PPG managing director, Brazil and South America. Major events
like this one generate opportunities to support infrastructure improvements in host cities. As a world

INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION FOR
ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIPS
Donation supports students pursuing corrosion-, coatings-related degrees

PITTSBURGH, June 10, 2014 The PPG
Industries Foundation has donated $10,000 to
create two annual scholarships provided
through the NACE International Foundation, a
501(c)(3) entity affiliated with NACE
International, The Corrosion Society. Two
students pursuing postsecondary academic
degrees related to corrosion or coatings each
received a $5,000 scholarship on behalf of
PPG. The 2014 winners were:
Kaitlyn Martin of Baytown, Texas, a
junior majoring in mechanical
engineering at Colorado School of Mines, and
Azra Turajlic of Fort Worth, Texas, a freshman majoring in petroleum engineering at
Louisiana State University.
We appreciate PPGs generous donation, which is helping NACE Foundation support the next
generation of corrosion control specialists, said Neil Thompson, president of the NACE International
Foundation board. By creating these scholarships, PPG expands learning opportunities that can
benefit the overall coatings and corrosion fields.
NACE International is a global authority on corrosion control and has a longstanding relationship
with PPGs protective and marine coatings (PMC) business. PPG exhibits at NACE International
trade shows, provides expert speakers for its conferences, and enrolls employees in specialized
NACE training programs. Students supported by these NACE Foundation scholarships are studying

PPG DONATES $65,000 FOR STEM
EDUCATION PROGRAMS FOR GIRLS

PITTSBURGH, May 13, 2014 The PPG
Industries Foundation donated $65,000 for
educational programs that aim to teach girls
about science, technology, engineering and
math (STEM) and encourage them to pursue
careers in related fields.
The initial grant, to Twin Cities Public
Television (tpt) in Minnesota, supports national
programming of SciGirls, a PBS television
show for young people ages 8-13 that
showcases girls using science and engineering
in their daily lives. This is the second year the
foundation has supported the program and
partnered with tpt to have PPG Industries
(NYSE:PPG) scientists show teachers in their
communities how resources associated with
the "SciGirls" program can be used in the
classroom to spark STEM interest.
The three grants that fund related
programming in PPG communities support the
following:
Challenger Learning Center of Northern Nevada in Reno near PPGs McCarran, Nevada,
architectural coatings plant inviting seven Girl Scouts troops to participate in
SciGirls/Challenger Center Simulated Space Missions to Mars;
Sci-Quest Hands-on Science Center in Huntsville, Alabama, where PPG operates an
aerospace manufacturing facility, developing a SciGirls after-school club for girls; and
WQED Multimedia in Pittsburgh, where PPG's global headquarters is located, holding a
SciGirls parent forum/workshop to discuss the importance of STEM education for girls.
Our primary funding focus is on education, particularly pertaining to STEM subjects, and these
programs all demonstrate creative ways to engage young people especially girls in STEM
learning in our PPG communities, said Sue Sloan, executive director, PPG Industries Foundation.

manufacturing facility in Oak Creek, Wis., and

provide manufacturing-related

to 18 different organizations for educational and human-services programs on behalf of PPG
Industries (NYSE: PPG) fiber glass manufacturing facilities in the Carolinas. Each grant represents
the companys commitment to supporting local organizations that provide needed resources in the
communities where its employees work and live.
Six recent grants in the Shelby, N.C., area helped:
Destination Cleveland County provide materials and activities on local history and regional
music for education programs;
Cleveland County Schools Education Foundation provide scholarships for college-bound
high school seniors that achieve a 4.0 GPA or higher;
United Way of Cleveland County share support with a variety of local programs;

Chester County Public Education Foundation provide funding for Chester County School
District student activities and scholarships;
Junior Achievement of Central Carolinas provide economic education to local students;
United Way of Chester County continue to support various community activities;
York Technical College Foundation offer summer externships for local teachers through the
Catawba Regional Education Center; and
Saluda Trail Middle School fund a student robotics team.
Five recent grants in the Lexington, N.C., area helped:
Davidson County Community College offer STEM Camp, a summer camp for rising 4th-8th
graders to develop their science, technology, engineering and math skills;
Fairgrove Family Resource Center provide support to a variety of local programs;
Pastors Pantry continue targeting senior hunger;
United Way of Davidson County continue to provide support to various community activities;
and
Communities In Schools of Lexington, N.C., support efforts to keep kids in school, off drugs
and alcohol, and out of trouble.

Pennsylvania as presenting partner of the first-ever
National Girl Scout Cookie Weekend events in Pittsburgh
