Final Essay : Take a Stand Essay with a writers memo

Word Count: 600 -1000 words. Points will be taken off for going over the word count as well as not
meeting the word count.
Due Date: Wednesday, Week 4, posted to Turn-it-in by 11:30 PM.
Point Value: This paper is considered the final exam grade and must be submitted on time with the
writers meme.
APA formatted: Title Page, Abstract, Body, and References. The writers memo will be written in class
on the last day.
Three References Please use: Database -- .gov, -- .edu sources only. Do not use general web pages or
.com sites. The .org sites can be used with caution. Wikipedia is never to be used for a source. Books
may be used provided they come from the University library.
Citation Requirements: The paper must contain at least one citation from each of the sources. Please do
not use more than five citations in the entire paper. One must be a quote.
Please Read Chapter 10 in the text to determine all the parts of the persuasive essay.
The Take a Stand essay needs to take a stand on the issue. Choose a side and defend it.
The contents of the paper are as follows:
Introduction: The introduction grabs the readers attention, proves background information, and
ends with the thesis statement.
Body: The body contains sentence transitions with all body paragraphs starting with a topic
sentence that supports the position. In addition, the body paragraphs need to contain enough
information to support the topic sentence. Furthermore, transitions need to be included in the
body of the paragraph. Make sure the counterargument is addressed.
Conclusion: The conclusion starts with a transitional word, summarized the main points, restates
the thesis in different words, and ends with a memorable statement.
The paper must be submitted to Turn-it-in and not have an originality report of more than 10%.
Correct grammar, punctuation, mechanics is required.
College level writing is mandatory.
