Achieve Meeting 2/5/2014

What is working?
PLATO, but would like more access time. PLATO is a good transition piece. Tutorials are
good.
Variety of enrichment activities
From West: Strong community, students attitudes have changed
From East: Fundamentally better, Kids are working a lot harder because the structure is
better,
From PRMS: Achieve kids are not being referred to extended tri. It could be many
different factors why this is happening, However, Achieve could be one of them.
What isnt working?
From West: Student grades are not going up.
Suggestions/Implementations:
Talk to elementary schools at the end of the school year to get referrals for incoming 6
th

graders who would benefit from Achieve.
It would benefit from having a consistant person who is overseeing student
participation, motivation, talking to students teachers, making parent phone calls,
pushing kids to work harder The Face of Achieve. Look into the Hopkins West jr.
High model, SOAR program. Contact Km Campbell
Purchase Board Games
Possibly use the Community Centers facilities i.e. Ice skating rink
Field trips : Minneapolis Library
Apply for Foundation Grant
