Materials Needed: One projector with screen One computer Video Cord to connect the computer and projector Markers and projector sheets Handouts for all 30 students
Objective: Students will be able to identify the nouns, verbs, and adjectives in a sentence
Lesson Plan: Ask the class if they know the definition of a noun, verb, and adjective. Present the definition of a noun, verb, and adjective on the projector. Provide three examples of sentences with nouns, verbs, and adjectives, and go over them with the class as a whole on the projector. Highlight the adjective in yellow, verb in green, and noun in red. Watch a video on the computer projected onto the projector about nouns, verbs, and adjectives. Throughout the video there will be points where the video will pause and provide sentences for the students to read aloud together, and they will have to identify the nouns, verbs, and adjectives. Place sample words of nouns, verbs and adjectives in random order on the projector and have the students hold up the appropriate marker to match the correct part of speech. Pass out a handout to each student with 10 sentences. Have them complete this handout with the other students at their table. Students will then individually break off and write their own sentence incorporating a noun, verb and adjective. Each student will come up to the computer and type his or her sentence so it is projected onto the projector. The class will then go over each sentence as a group.
