Literacy Memoir
Everyone in this world has different type of literacy. Some people are trying to find
what they interested in, because they want to be succeed. Now I am going to talk about
my experience about my reading and writing.
First of all, I am International student here in the US. My first Language is Arabic,
so English is my second Language. I learned English two years ago, which it is very
difficult for me understanding every single word I hear. I improved my reading by
watching movies subtitles, which it was really helpful. Also I had a way that helped me to
improve my reading, which is I read everything that Im interested in. For example, I also
try to read about sports. I will never get bored reading them, because I really
love sports. My Writing for the first time I leaned English was horrible, which I could not
make a good sentence. Then I was upset about that because I have to. I decided to do a
journal and to write everything I did during the day. Then I go to correct them by giving
them to my first teacher. He was happy about me and he told me that my writing became
better that it used to be. I was glad that I made my goal by believing my self that I can do
it. Second of all. My literacy is related to Sport, witch I can stay home all day watching
soccer games and some other sports. My Father is also interested about watching sport
and play it as well. He encouraged me and made me love to be athlete.

Third of all, I want to talk about my overall writing process. I usually think a lot
about what Im going to write. Some times the ideas come before I start to write and
when I start to write, all the ideas are gone or it did not make sense. So what I do,
was when any idea comes to my head, I immediately write it down in order not to
miss it and try to make it better if
it is needed. I always read my papers because since you write you may forget a
comma or you misspell words that cannot make sense. I hope that I can make up
ideas so fast and organize them perfectly. In my Language, the writing is
tremendously awesome because when I was in middle school, I did write a lot and I
had tutor. I am trying now with my teacher Caruso to improve it more and more,
which I am really excited.
This class seems exciting and I am not lying, because we really talk a lot and we
make discussions that could help us improve our reading and writing. I am looking
forward to enhance my vocabularies and how to use them in sentences. This semester is
short and I will work on my writing everyday, which is good and make it strong and be
confident as well. I see my self in this class that I can be good writer with my teachers
advices. I think my teacher is willing to help each one of us as she can and I am sure that
she will be happy to answer all questions that you have. She is
like close to the students and she is trying to make us good writers and that is really nice
from her. Im kind of nervous sometimes when I want to share my ideas because I think I
will not be as good as native students. However, I am trying to go beyond this point
which is really important for me to be confidant. I am really proud of my self until this

point, because since I came here to the US, I did not know how to speak, write and read.
That is really amazing to be surrounded by native speakers and have discussion with
them as well. I am not concerning at all about talking this class because it will help me
and make me good writer and reader. I hope that I reach my goal, which I am sure to
reach it after this class.

The writer was really explained that his or her writing was part of his or her
education. The writer is well remembered of what he or she had in the past. I believe that
his or her master narrative is the composition topics that she was requested to write.
The first topic was about My pet. He or she felt that this is going to be hard to write
about, because the writer did not have a pet and did not know how to write about it. Then
the writer was giving more details about this story by asking for help from his or her
mom. She was waiting for something that could change what she thought about the topic.
The writer got advised by the mother, which to imagine any pet and make a story about
it. This was the writers first time imagining something and writes it down. When he or
she grew up, started filling with imagination and creativity, and they became so
interesting . His of her writing became more stronger and greater in high school because I
believe that ones you grow up, the more you can understand, which I can see his or her
transformation. His or her literacy about English specifically reading, was about Poems.
She was explained that she was good at it and that is really good to be interested in
something you can be succeeded. The writer was well done explaining his or her Master
narrative and little narrative. The writer was talking about the experience in UK. Also the
writers job was communication officer, which to interview people who want visit UK
and what that means, he or she could read facial expressions, which that very talented I
believe because rarely you find people have it and I think that

his or her literacy is part communication. The writer seems well known by doing this job,
and explained very well about what had he or she done.
The writer was demonstrated the experiences by telling us about what she was like
to read and about his or her job which was known as communication officer. The valuing
about this writer is very amazing experiences and I can imagine that how well his or her
life is. I do not see this writer missed anything that could affect the writer experiences. I
believe the writer has approached his or her literacy by following what the writer
interested in. Also his or her mom was the most motivated person to approach the writer
literacy. I think the writer is willing to be more unique because the writer imagination is
absolutely amazing. The writer loves every thing he or she has done, and I dont think
that there is a limitation for his or her imagination. My advice to the writer is to keep
going to find what is really helpful and grateful for his or her education universe. My idea
is to be surrounded by experts to enhance his or her imagination. I really like the
experiences and I wish I know this person so I can communicate and have great
conversations. I also like the way the writer write. He seemed responsible of what he or
she was doing.

Critical Self-Assessment/Analysis

The tone I used was about how to analyze my experiences into the paper. I believe
that it seems genuine because I have explained many things happened to my life. I Dont
think that was wasting the time because I really honest about every think I have talked
about and I was happy to share them with other people to see who I was doing and what
is the advantages and disadvantages. Actually, I Approached my assignment by talking
about how English language can be learned by many different ways, and it could be
different from person to another and that how everybody in this class has different type of
stories and experiences that happened to them. I am international student, so Im
satisfied of what I have done through the assignment, and Im looking forward to
enhance my level of writing and trying to use synonyms to improve my vocabularies. Im
sure that if I keep the same hard work until the last class, I will be so happy and make my
teacher glad that I was responsible of what I have to do and to make sure everything is
clear and organized. According to Bains work, I feel like Im a strategic learner,
because I am not that person who works a lot and being surrounded by books and
information. I study a

lot, Im not a lazy student. I know what I have to do. I have never postponed any work
that I had to do. Im also trying to be a deep learner for my major in order to be
succeeded. The evidence I have in my literacy memoir was, I was trying to reach my
goal which I learn English and trying to be a good writer. I was given help and
encouragements by my first English teacher who was always there for me. And I believe
that this is called a strategic learning, because I only learned how to speak, write and read
in two years which is amazing and that because I used my strategy by practicing English
with native speakers and living with American people who have taught me the right
things. In the assignment, I did a good job and I was honest because I really love to talk
about my self. I explained my experiences and stories that happened to me. I will give my
self an A because I am doing a great work and also doing it with my second language
and I am happy to share my feeling and expressions by another language. To be honest ,
you will not feel the happiness until you see your hard work specially with another
language. For me, I always take lots of times to write like this kind of assignments
because ones I finish I have to correct my grammar if it needed. Also trying to make up
good and understandable sentences. So I am really happy about my self and I am sure
that my parents have the same feeling I have. If I would approach this assignment
differently in order to be better, I should keep the hard work up and trying to have many
experiences that could help me improve my education. I do approach my life by reading a
lot because that could expand my knowledge. This class is the first step to make me reach
my goals, because this class makes me read and write which is the best way to make up

ideas and share them with my classmates. I think the ideas I used in my literacy memoir
were intended because I have done all of them and I feel like I explained them perfectly.
I really worked hard the past two years, I have been struggling to learn English and I can
see my self two years ago and now. It is been a pleasure that I did it and to see my self in
this level. My first English teacher and my father were the best people to make me reach
one of my goals. I became understanding almost everything I hear and to be eligible to do
what I have to do. I dont have people yet have hindered my development, and Im sure I
will not find people like that because they always nice and glad to offer help. My
important components were how did I learn English and who to develop my reading and
writing. Also I am interested about sports and how it became my literacy memoir.
Learning English is one of the best experiences I have done, because it changed my way
thinking about life and expressions. Also I could communicate with many people in over
the world by using English. It is really good experience and I hope everyone in my class
try to live in a country that speaks another language. My acknowledge was to be succeed
and trying to make my self confident in order not to fail. Im trying now to learn new
things and read a lot so I can be aware of what I want to do. I was explained my master
and little narratives, and I want to say that It was not easy to learn English and it was
good experience at the same time. I want to you to know that Im a good learner and
more strategic. Also I have suggestion for my classmates if they want to have the same
experience, which is to learn a new language in another country. The best way to learn
the language so quickly is to live with people who speak the

language, and that way easier to get it, because you will hear them a lot and see their
expressions.
