Instructional Leadership
Initiated and facilitated a building-wide reading initiative called Reading-To-Learn (R.T.L.) that
focused on improving the instruction and assessment of reading in all grade levels and in all
departments to reach SMART Goals for school improvement
Led professional development sessions on professional development days and at staff meetings on
reading strategies, change theory, school culture, Google Drive, and brain-based learning
Collaborated with a mentor principal to evaluate and write an individual development plan for a
struggling teacher that led to positive change
Granted top evaluation rating of Highly Effective for three years in a row using standardized student
growth data in STAR Renaissance and Scholastic Reading Inventory (S.R.I.) as the primary measures

Building Relationships and Communication
Planned the 8

grade trip to Washington D.C. of 150+ people, which required proactive thinking,
financial planning, organization, troubleshooting, and collaboration.
Conducted work successfully with at-risk students in an academic center program supported with
Title I funding that showed positive student performance using both scientific data and grades
Collected, analyzed, and acted upon perception data to strengthen school improvement initiatives in
reading and for an advisory program
Provided instructional coaching to other staff members as member of schools leadership team for
reading instruction and incorporating instructional technology into the classroom

Student Culture
Managed the disciplining of students using due process while periodically serving as the interim
assistant principal or teacher leader at Avondale Middle School
Participated on the AMS Positive Behavior Intervention System (P.B.I.S.) Committee and initiated
improvements that included the development of a citizenship matrix and character education lessons
that address important issues and more objectively define positive behavioral expectations
Handled behavioral and disciplinary issues as the teacher-in-charge on the Washington D.C. trip
Collaborated on a team to help launch the rewards and recognition protocols at the inception of
P.B.I.S.

Coordinated the AMS Volleyball Program for eight successful seasons

Grade Girls Volleyball team as the head coach and held a winning record
Coached the AMS Boys Track Team for two seasons as an assistant coach on a team that won both
the City Meet and Oakland County Meet
Organized teambuilding events and fieldtrips for 200+ students that were safe, educational, and fun
Started competitive cross country program at Avondale Middle School by increasing the number of
participants in the program and developing a schedule for meets and transportation
Provided extra care and instruction to students in reading and writing at English Club which meets
after school on a weekly basis
