When I Grow Up
Ryan Bunda
Seattle University
6/9/14
(OSPI Report Card, 2014)
Once upon a time
!
There was a very caring 6th grade teacher named
Ms. Mao. She came to Mr. Bunda asking if he would be
willing to form a Counseling group with ve of her high
needs students
!
Eager to help, Mr. Bunda assembled a group
That group included
Conejo
Logan
Fox
& Bubbles
Ghost
Along with Mr. Bunda, Together they swore to
*Protect *Assist and * Respect

They Called Themselves

6
ALPHA TEAM
Now for the REAL exciting part
Mr. Bunda took a look at his magical machine and found:
Started from the bottom
!
In the beginning before ALPHA TEAM assembled
Team members would be sent to the ofce for ghting,
physical aggression towards others, or disrupting the
classroom.
* M- Contact = Physical Contact
*PAgg = Physical Aggression

!
After consulting his magic machine, Mr. Bunda began
running Alpha Team during Lunch Recess/Lunch on
Thursdays (12:00-12:40).
Outcomes
!
Immediate- Empower students with Study Skills, Social
Skills & Goal-Setting Skills
!
Proximal- Decrease in Ofce Referrals
!

academic)
TRAINING DAY(s)!
!
Alpha Team endured rigorous training including:
Trust Training (Blindfold Navigation)

LGBTQ Talk
Respect Towards Girls
Name Calling
Ruh-Roh
!
During his work with ALPHA TEAM and with further
classroom observations Mr. Bunda noticed that it was
not just ALPHA TEAM that struggled with productivity
and attitude in the classroom.. it was much of the sixth
grade class.

HELP!
!
Mr. Bunda was only a mere Intern, so he asked for
assistance and joined forces with Ms. Mao (Goddess of
Reading and Writing) and Mr. Brown (Lord of
Literature). To create a magical secret weapon:
A Career Exploration Project!
With Our Powers Combined
!
Ms. Mao, Mr. Brown and Mr. Bunda collaborated and
each quickly got to work

!
Ms. Mao & Mr. Brown began to coordinate and plan a
Career Fair down the street at Bethady Community

With the help of his handy dandy Needs Assessment,
Mr. Bunda set out on a journey to better understand
what he could do to assist motivation in the classroom.
