Road Trip
for
Readers
The Cause
Our public library and school media centers
are vital community resources at all times. In the
current economy, the information, services and
training they provide are even more important to
people of all ages in the Prescott area. Budgets are
tight and it is challenging to maintain and improve
programs and resources at a time when the need
is increasing. The goal of Road Trip for Readers is
to encourage individuals and business community
leaders to pledge additional support that helps
continue and expand services they provide for all of
us. Please make your pledge today.
Pledging
Please mail or drop off your completed pledge form
and check today so the Malone Media Center and
Prescott Public Library will be able to better serve
our children and community. Every dollar donated
will directly benefit the library and media center.
All donations are tax-deductible and will be greatly
appreciated. You also may e-mail pledges to:
ekeezer@prescott.k12.wi.us or
enright@prescottpubliclibrary.org.

Malone School
Media Center
Malone Elementary Schools Media Center
complements teachers efforts to introduce Prescott
students to the fundamentals of reading, writing
and researching. It endeavors to spark a life-long
love of reading, teach computer skills and how to
effectively and responsibly find, evaluate and act
on information that connects their young minds to
the world.
The Road Trip
This spring, Prescott residents Nancy and Greg
Lauser will drive their 1967 Austin-Healey 3000
from Prescott to Thunder Bay, Ontario, via the
Pacific Northwest and Seattle, Washington. This
adventure allows us to combine our love of nature
and top-down British sports car trips with support
for community assets that help educate children
and all citizens, Greg said.
Their more than 5,000-mile drive will take them
to a variety of cities and towns among scenic
byways and national parks. Theyll see Theodore
Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota, the
Rocky Mountains on both sides of the border, the
Olympic National Park Peninsula, Victoria Island,
Vancouver, Waterton-Glacier International Peace
Park, Lake Louise, Banff and Jasper National Park
in Alberta, before pushing on to Calgary, Alberta;
Regina, Saskatchewan; Winnipeg, Manitoba, and
Thunder Bay. Along the way theyll take pictures and
write about what they see and do and send those
reports to the Prescott Public Library and Malone
Media Center. Students and others interested in
their trip progress will be able to follow it at:

Letter from the
Directors
As directors of the Malone Elementary
School Media Center and Prescott
Public Library, we urge you to respond
generously to the 2014 Road Trip for
Readers. Your pledge will help maintain
and improve reading programs and
services that introduce our communitys
students and citizens to a world of
information and wonders far beyond
their own doorsteps. It will demonstrate
your support for the library and Malone
Media Center as important Prescott
resources. Donors at all pledge levels
will appear on the media center and
library Web sites. If your business has a
logo, please e-mail it as a jpeg file to the
library and media center.
One of the most rewarding benefits
of libraries and media centers is the
difference they make in peoples lives.
Libraries are more than collections of
books and resources.Our librarians work
with elected officials, business owners,
students and members of the public to
discover and meet community needs.
Whether offering e-books, technology
classes, services for job seekers or
programs to support early literacy, we
listen and fulfill those roles to the best of
our abilities.
If you want more information about
the 2014 Road Trip for Readers, or
the integral role libraries and media
centers play in our community, please
contact us.
