FINAL VERSION

Chieh and Justin have been friends with each other over years. One night, they go out for a
drink.

Chieh: Today is the worst day of my life because Ive lost all my investment in stocks and many
different business. (sigh) Im literally bankrupt now.

Justin: Oh, Im so sorry to hear that. Maybe you shouldnt have put all your money into those
businesses like I had warned you not to.

Chieh: Yeah, youre right! But you know what? At least I still have a beautiful girlfriend like
Saho beside me. Im not lonely. (Smile)

Justin: Youre still confident that youll be able to provide for her?(evil chuckles) Dont fool
yourself!

Chieh (Scold face, confused): What did you just say? What do you mean by that?

Justin: Its time for me to shine Chieh! Ive been waiting for this day ever since I saw you get
together with Saho. Every minute that I see you with her, I cant stop thinking of different ways
to destroy your relationship. Im glad, I finally have a chance! (LAUGHING SO HARD)

Chieh: (mad face, SUPER ANGRY, UPSET) Youre a jerk! (takes Justins shirt and punches
him in the face)

Justin touches his lips and there is blood from the side, he angrily stand up and grab Chiehs
neck. At that moment, Justin received a call from Saho, so he releases Chieh

Justin: Saho? What do you need? (pause) I will get it for you on the way there. (pause) You want
me to finish him off? Alright, Ill see what I can do. Ok, see you later.
(Then he looks at Chieh) Well finish this conversation later! (walks away)

The next day, Sherlock and Watson enter the room. There is a body on the floor. Saho sees
Sherlock and walks over to him.

Saho: Mr. Holmes! Dr. Watson! Thank goodness you are here. My boyfriend committed suicide
and nobody knows why! He was laughing happily just yesterday!

Lestrade: Oh yes, the great Sherlock Holmes. You are not needed here; its a suicide, case
closed.

Sherlock: As much as Id love to believe you Lestrade, I prefer to examine evidence before
making conclusions.

Lestrade: Excuse me!?

Watson: Hello Lestrade. Dont mind him, you know how he is.

Sherlock glances at the body

Sherlock walks over to the body and kneels next to it.

Sherlock: My dear Watson, you know my method, so what can you deduce from this crime
scene?

Watson: Well, obviously a gunshot to the head. Looking from the color of his face, ill say he
died around 2 or 3 am. His cloth are neat and there is no sign of a scuffle. There is burnmark
around the entry wound so the the shot was fired at point blank range. If the shot if fired at point
blank range and there was no struggle. I would have to agree with Lestrange this time and
conclude that it is a suicide.

Sherlock: You think this was a suicide, do you?

Lestrade: Well it sure as hell isnt a murder, hes holding the gun in his hand.

Sherlock: There is nothing more deceptive than an obvious fact. He is holding the gun in his
right hand. Ms. Johnson, was Chieh right or left handed?

Saho: He was left handed.

Sherlock: Therefore, this was a murder.

Watson: A nice murder. Thatll cheer you up.

Lestrade: Murder?! Nonsense, its obviously a suicide, what proof do you have?

Sherlock: Not only is he holding the gun in his non-dominant, right hand, you can clearly see
that the bullet entered through the left side of his head; thereby making it impossible that he was
the shooter. This is a murder staged as a suicide.

Lestrade: He was shot from his left side while holding the gun in the right?! Well Ill be damned,
I guess weve got a murder on our hands. Right now the only person whom I think could have
been the murderer is you Justin! Youre gonna have to come with me.

Sherlock: Dont be so hasty with your conclusions

He gets close to the body, checking the pockets and being perceptive. He finds white powder and
holds it up to the light and sniffs it.

Sherlock: Miss Johnson, has your boyfriend ever done any drugs?

Saho: Of course not! He is too responsible for anything of that sort.

Sherlock goes back to inspecting the body.

Sherlock: So the murder took place around 2 or 3 am, I am going to say 2:30. Where were you
when this happened Mr. Block?

Justin: Yeah, I think thats the time I heard the gunshot. I was on my way away from here but as
soon as I heard it, I came running in to find him on the ground like that.

Lestrade: Exactly what the murderer would say. My men responded to the gunshot and found
you standing over the body. Since you were the only one in the area when it happened there are
no other suspects. Now lets get you back to the station, before you come up with any more
excuses. Mr. Holmes I will leave a police car out front, you can tell him to clean up when you
are done.

Lestrade exits with Justin in tow. While they are leaving, Saho calls after.

Saho: Dont worry Justin. Mr. Holmes will prove your innocence.

Justin: I hope so.

Sherlock continues searching the body. I guess at points in the play he examines Chiehs Phone
wallet and he smells perfume. In not long Yuri walks in, looking around for his sister. There
should be more talking between Holmes and Watson.

Yuri: Saho, What happened? You sounded hysterical over the phone. Are you okay? You made
me so worried.

Seeing her brother, Saho runs straight to Yuri and giving him a hug with a fearful look.

Saho: Its Chieh. Hes been murdered. (Crying)

Yuri: No way! Who would do such a thing?

Saho: I dont know! Chieh was the nicest person I ever knew. He would never do anything to
harm anyone!

Yuri: Whoever did it must have done it out of jealousy. It must have been Justin! I know that he
has had feelings for you for years now Saho! He must have gotten overwhelmed by envy and
killed Chieh so he could take advantage of you while you grieve!

Saho: It wasnt Justin! Theres nothing between us hes just my friend!

Sherlock stands and looks at the body and then at everyone in the room

Watson: Hey Sherlock. It seems Chieh left his phone here. Do you want to take a look?

Sherlock checks calls on Chiehs phone.

Sherlock: Why yes, of course. Hmm, a password, that should be no problem.

(Cracks code somehow.) Sherlock checks calls on Chiehs phone.

Sherlock: Now lets see A call from Yuri, and then a missed call from Justin. Just as I
suspected. Sherlock looks over to Yuri Mr. Johnson, what is that powder on your coat?

Yuri: What? (looks at his coat and patts it off) Oh, I work at a bakery, thats where I was running
from. I spilled some flour earlier.

Sherlock: Very well. Ms. Johnson, How long were you and Justin seeing each other?

Saho: Seeing each other? What? How dare you I would never Like I said hes only a friend

Sherlock: The way you looked at Justin as he left made it painfully obvious that there was more
than mere friendship between the two of you. Not to mention that you are more upset over his
arrest than the murder of your boyfriend. Please explain yourself to everyone, or I will have to
do it for you.

Saho: I dont know...The truth is, Chieh wasnt the best boyfriend We argued over many
different matters...and he he beat me Justin was always there for me...He helped me get
through many hardships.

Sherlock: I think weve heard enough, thank you Ms. Johnson.

Saho: But dont get any ideas, I wouldve never hurt him on purpose!

Sherlock: On purpose?

Saho: Ughhh, I didnt kill him!

Watson: Sherlock! Enough messing around, So have you figured out who did it? Could it be
Justin afterall? Or maybe it really was just a suicide?

Sherlock: Eliminate all other factors, and the one which remains must be the truth. Its simplicity
itself. I think we have all the information we need to wrap this case up. For now we wait.

Interact with audience to see if they can solve the case.

Sherlock: Ms. Johnson, it is clear to me that you had every motive to harm Chieh, to get him out
of the way for your new love. However, you would never have had the guts to go through with
it. Justin was not the murderer because he called Chieh when he heard the gunshot--If justin had
killed Chieh, he would not have called him. Yuri, you dont work at a bakery--it is painfully
obvious. I know you have your family and friends fooled, but the simple fact is that there is no
bakery within five minutes run of here, and that powder on your wrists is not flour. But the true
giveaway was the fact that you tried to fake a suicide and left crucial evidence. There was
cocaine on the gun and Chiehs hand, but not around his nostrils--he does not do drugs. You're
the only drug dealer that could have entered Chiehs house without forced entry; you called him
to let you in. Thus making you the culprit behind this murder. Perhaps you should have been
more careful about where you dealt those drugs.

Yuri: How did youknow? Well you may have found me out, but you wont get me? Runs and
grabs gun, points at Sherlock.

Watson sees that he is pointing a gun at Sherlock and quickly draws his pistol and point it at
Yuri.

Watson: Not so fast!

Sherlock: Thank you, Watson. Now, shoot away, Mr. Johnson. I expected this, and unloaded the
gun before you came and took the bullets for evidence. Im afraid you have nowhere left to run.
The police car is waiting outside. Please do take your time.

Yuri: I didnt have a choice. When Chieh saw me with the stuff he said that he wanted half
of the money, or that he would go to the police. I needed that money, so I decided to go to his
house and try to make a compromise. But things got a little out of control, and then this
happened. I hope you can forgive me, Saho.

Saho: Maybe in a few centuries.

Watson: Excellent! Well that wraps that up.

Sherlock: Elementary. I was really hoping this case would have been a challenge, I should have
known better. Utterly boring. If only the world could produce an adept criminal or two. I cannot
live without brain-work. What else is there to live for?

Watson: Yeah, yeah, Sherlock. Wanna go get some tea?

Sherlock: Milk no sugar, I will be in my room.

Watson: Right.
