My Journey

This year I set up a mentorship with Charlotte

Buford, a second grade teacher, at St. Josephs
Catholic School in Waxahachie. I acted as a
student aid, helping Mrs. Buford and assisting
students with their work. Throughout the year I
learned so much and got to experience what it is
really like to be a teacher. And let me tell you, it
is a lot harder than it looks!

I set up goals at the beginning of the year, which
is included on the next page. I wanted to really
know what it takes to be a teacher so I set up a
day with Mrs. Buford for me to teach the class. I
made my own lesson plan, researched my own
material, and came up with my own activities.
The lesson plan was a success and I truly got an
idea of the hard work and dedication it takes to
be a teacher.
