WHAT IS A PORTFOLIO ASSESSMENT?
Portfolio: A systematic collection of ones work. In education, portfolios
refer to systematic collections of students work (Popham, 2011, pg.
211).

KEY INGREDIENTS IN CLASSROOM PORTFOLIO
ASSESSMENT
1. Make sure your students own their portfolios
2. Decide on what kinds of work samples to collect
3. Collect and store work samples.
4. Select criteria by which to evaluate portfolio work samples
5. Require students to evaluate continually their own portfolio products
6. Schedule and conduct portfolio conferences
7. Involve parents in the portfolio assessment process

ACTIVITY (20 MIN)
As SOE majors we have done quite amount of portfolios in our previous
classes. Please divide yourselves into 2 groups (counting off as 1s &
2s), and critique our SOE portfolios. Then, each group will present in
front of the class.
Questions to think about:
- What are we doing right?
- What are we doing wrong?
- Are our portfolios working portfolios or showcase portfolios?
- How can we improve our portfolio assessments at SOE?
