IIM : China and India Religion and Technological Advances
What created the modern day of China and India? The answer is in the past where
everything began. In the past, China and India did not have what they have today, so it
was harder to make inventions. But, the inventions created then affected the development
of the Chinese civilization. The same goes for India. The past is also where all the
religion began. In the past, some people are able to get people to follow their believes
which lead many people to know about their religion. Religion changed how people lived
and how they developed. In China and India, technological advancemnt and religion
both played a big role in the development of the two civiliztion, which affect the
daily life in China and India.
Technological advances played a big role I the development of China and India. In
China, inventions like paper, gunpowder, writing system, etc. The notebook was soon
develop after paper by students putting sheets of paper together. Gunpowder allowed
China to win some wars, paper helped in education and letter writing, and the writing
system allowed people to communicate through letters. China also invented paper money,
magnetic compass, coal and iron refining, porcelain, mechanical clock, abacus, and a
spinning wheel. China also developed in science. They made a lunar calendar based on
the moon, studied medicine, and they invented acupuncture and the seismograph. In India,
they advanced in science as well. They studies astronomy by looking and observing the
night sky. The Indians invented metal work, metallurgy. The oldest steel ever found in
the world is in India. The first steel was made in 500B.C. India is one of the earliest to
have fabrics n textiles. India also invented chess. What these two River Valley
Civilization invented helped people live in a more comfortable life, so it change how
people live their daily life. Technological advances affected the development of China
and India and their daily life.
Religion also played a big role in China and India besides technological advances. In
both China and India, Buddhism is a religion. Buddhism is the most essential religion in
China. Buddhism first started in China during the Han Dynasty. Buddhism scriptures
were translated and the White Horse Temple was built. During Jin, Northern and
Southern Dynasties, Buddhism was more popular and the number of people who follow
Buddhism increased. Buddhism also took place in the Sui and Tang Dynasty. But,
Chinese Buddhism decrease in development because of the social unrest. In India, there
is more to Buddhism like Jainism, Brahmanism, and Hinduism. Buddhism was originated
from India. The creator was Prince Siddhartha Gautama (Buddha). Buddhism included
the Four Noble Truths and The Eightfold Path. Brahmanism was originated by the Aryan
and is also called Vedic Brahmanism. This religion is based on the Vedas. Another
religion in India is Hinduism. This religion is originated by Persian settlers influenced by
Aryan invaders. Hinduism has many gods and they believe that everyone soul will join
Brahman, a god, because this world is an illusion. Karma is also included in Hinduism.
Another religion is Jainism. This religion was originated by break away groups of Hindu
led by Mahavira. Jainism believe that they should not injure or hurt any living creatures,
so they dont eat meat. Theyre four principles are : injure no life, tell the truth, do not
steal, and own no property. Religion have affected how people in ancient India and
China lived their daily life. Some religion has a caste system that the people have to
follow or they have rituals they need to attend. Religion affected the daily life of these
two River Valley Civilization and affected their development.
Inventions that were made in these two River Valley Civiliations were made to make
life easier and it lead to newer invention. If China and India made completely no
technological advances, they will not be able to develope. All the other countries will be
developed but China and India will be how it wa thousands of years ago without
technological advances. Religion affect the way how these two civilization develope.
They wont make anything that goes against their religion. Religion might include
ceremonies, rituals, meetings, etc. So, the people who follow these religion will have a
different life than those who don't follow a religion. Technologica advances and religion
affected the development of China and India and the daily life.
