In most newspapers, there is a responsibility to cover peoples faces, like it does in TV news, including SBS. This is done to protect the rights of people and make sure their privacy isnt invaded. Korea Joongang Daily (August 29, 2013) Rebecca Hall ascends confidently to stardom Invasion of privacy: This article violates privacy, as it talks about personal issues on Rebecca Hall. It discloses information about Halls childhood, her parents divorce, and her relationship with Sam Mendes. Although the newspaper could reveal information about her increasing fame, it is not right to release information about Rebecca Halls private life. Especially because it was information that wasnt willingly shared to the news agency by Hall. Korea Joongang Daily (August 30, 2013 - September 1, 2013) Doctor faces arrest for faking medical opinions Libel: This article is a sign of libel, as it heavily criticizes the doctor for issuing false medical opinions. By doing this, it could lower his reputation, which is problematic because the readers will view him in a negative light. The newspaper has an obligation not to attack someone personally, and make sure to not degrade ones status or position in society. Korea Joongang Daily (September 12, 2013) Croatia loss puts pressure on rookie coach Hong Libel: The journalists accuse Hong Myung-bo, the coach of the national soccer team, for Koreas loss against Croatia. In the article, he is described as a rookie who makes bad decisions the team. By describing Hong Myung-bo in a negative way, it can possibly lower his reputation after the audience reads it. Therefore, the newspaper shouldnt have criticized Hong Myung-bo, in order to protect his reputation. Korea Joongang Daily (September 13, 2013) Sex trade to lead to passport loss Obscenity: This article covers sexual matters and deals with issues like Korean prostitution. This is a sign of obscenity, as it is offensive towards Koreans, especially women. It is also disturbing that the article mentions about how people go on a sex tour to other countries. The newspaper should have had a duty to prevent obscene content that was frequently presented in the article.
