PROCEDURES:
Bridging
What background knowledge do the
students already have?
Prior to this lesson, the students have had the expectation of the final
presentations explained to them. They have read articles, watched
videos, and written about on the topics they will be presenting about.
What will you do to activate or link
students prior knowledge or experience to
upcoming content?
I start my lesson by having the students rate their level of preparation
for the presentation. They will use a rating system that is provided on
the Prezi and write their score on their paper. Then, I explain that
hopefully the tips they learn in the lesson will help them to increase
their number. I share the agenda to give them an idea of that types of
strategies they will learn (verbal and non-verbal)

Engagement with New Material
What will you do to engage students in the
active learning of the new material?
I will present the key point of each new presentation strategy using
Prezi that has pictures. Students will take notes on each of the
strategies and will have access to Prezi after the lesson as well. To split
up the note taking and create a more interactive environment, students
will get to try out the new strategies in small groups. One person in
each group will get a chance to try the strategy being discussed and the
whole group will then reflect on the effects that each strategy has on
their ability to present information and keep the audience engaged.
They will also discuss how they can utilize the strategy in their
upcoming presentations
What will you do to ensure that all students
are engaged?
I will walk around during the activities to ensure that all students are
participating and answer any questions they might have. I will also ask
students to reflect on their findings after each activity so that they can
share their thoughts and experiences with the group.
Application
What opportunities will you provide
students to practice and apply their
knowledge/skill to meet the objectives for
this lesson? To apply to other contexts?
Students will get to put the strategies in action when they participate in
the mini-activities with their partner. They will also watch a short video
(time permitting) to analyze the use of the strategies that they just
learned. While watching, they will take notes using a graphic
organizer. Afterward, they will share what they noticed with a partner
to exchange ideas and observations. Or, if time runs own, students will
complete the video observation for homework and reflect the next day
in class.
Assessment
How will you assess their learning of the
objectives?
I will assess the students understanding of the new strategies
informally while I am presenting the strategies and while they are
participating in the activities. Their level of reflection after the
activities will give me a good idea of whether they are understanding

the purpose of the strategies and how to use them. Their exit slip will
also be a good indicator of what they learned and how they are feeling
about the upcoming presentations. (See Closing section)
CLOSI NG/EXTENSI ON ACTI VI TI ES
How will you help students recap the
learning and link it back to the original
purpose of the lesson?
I recap the original objective by having students fill out an exit slip
where they are asked to explain one presentation strategy that they
learned, what they plan to do at home to prepare for their presentations,
what their rating of preparation was at the beginning of class, and what
they feel their rating is now. (See attachment) Also, they will be given
access to the Prezi and encouraged to review it to help them prepare for
their presentations. Lastly, if we do not have time for the video in class,
students will be asked to watch it at home and record the strategies they
observe.
Technology
If applicable for your context and your
lesson, how will you meaningfully integrate
technology into your lesson?

I integrate technology into my lesson with the use of a projected Prezi
slideshow that provides the key idea students need to know about each
strategy. I will also use the doc cam to show the graphic organizer and
other documents and use the computer to display a video.
