Dear Parent:
Your child has successfully completed the pre-band
screening. This tells us that they can be a member of
our school band. Lessons are taught during regular
school hours and are free.
We have arranged with Portman's Music of Savannah,
Augusta, Brunswick and Albany to offer a special band
instrument rental plan. All recommended instruments
are covered under an extended service and mainte-
nance policy. Accessories are availablefor all instru-
ments. :
We have scheduled a timJ 'for the representatives of
Portman's Music to come to our school and explain the
rental program to you. All. fees should be paid at that
time to reserve your child's instrument and accessories.
Whether or not you plan on doing business with
Portman's Music, all parents .should attend this meeting.
A list of students to be scheduled for band class will be
provided for the principal from those attending and
registering. :'
Please attend this meeting. We look forward to seeing
you there.
Sincerely,
Richard Jervis
Band Director

Give Your Child The Musical Advantage!
Students learn teamwork. They
develop social skills. Their small
motor coordination improves-along
with their hand eye coordination...and
now science has shown that: Music
students score higher on SAT's!
It takes ateam to succeed on this
journey. Aparent to support, achild
to participate, aterrific music
educator to teach and guide, and a
professional music store to be there
to serve the student throughout their
school music career.
Give your child achance!
Music educators and parents have
shown concern over the appearance of
cheap and poorly made instruments in
national chain stores. They are difficult
to play and impossible to repair. Give
your child achance to succeed.
School music offers numerous
leadership experiences and
enhances your child's resume. More
college scholarships are given for
music than for sports!
