Leadership and Society
Leaders define society. They keep this generation going, developing and inventing new
things and ways of doing things. Without them, our society would be a mess. Leadership is what
uniforms our generation and creates a name for it. Leadership has impacted in the society in a
positive way by uniting people, making people believe in themselves and improving the people.
To start off, leadership has had a positive impact on society by uniting people together.
The leadership displayed by a leader brings together the generation as a whole. In the poem,
Great Leaders by Meiji Stewart, a list of qualities and things a great leader does is explained.
It says a great leader Awakens minds. / Brings people together / Communicate effectively / . . .
(Stewart). This supports the idea that a positive leader unites the people by opening up their
minds and having them communicate to come together as one.
Also, leadership has impacted the society in a positive way by making people believe in
themselves. Without smart individuals that wanted to change the society there would be no
leaders. It takes one leader to display leadership and to make a change. In the book Tuesdays
with Morrie by Mitch Albom, Morrie says The culture we have does not make people feel good
about themselves. And you have to be strong enough to say if the culture doesnt work, dont but
it. (Albom 42). This shows that an individual has to believe in themselves in order to be a leader
and make a change. In a quote by Napoleon Bonaparte, he says A leader is a dealer in hope.
(Bonaparte). This shows the positive impact of leadership by making people believe in

themselves because the leader gives hope. Without hope, the society would have no belief or
faith in anything and therefore would not succeed.
Finally, leadership has had a positive impact on the society by improving the people. If
the people were to remain the same throughout history nothing would have changed. Martin
Luther King would never have gotten equal rights and Adolf Hitler would have never been
stopped. This change and improvement in people steams back from leadership. In the book
Tuesdays with Morrie, Morrie also says So many people walk around with a meaningless life.
They seem half-asleep, even when they're busy doing things they think are important. This is
because they're chasing the wrong things. The way you get meaning into your life is to devote
yourself to loving others, devote yourself to your community around you, and devote yourself to
creating something that gives you purpose and meaning. (Albom 43). This shows that by
improving the people and yourself through leadership things can change for the better. Also in a
quote by Henry A. Kissinger, he says The task of a leader is to get his people from where they
are to where they have not been. (Kissinger). This shows that leaders uses leadership to take the
people from where they have been and are at now to improve them so they can go where they
need to be.
Wrapping it up, leadership has impacted the society in a positive way by uniting people,
making people believe in themselves and improving the people. Leaders ultimately bring the
people together. Good leadership helps make the people believe in themselves so they can
accomplish things as future leaders. Also, leadership improves the people and their leadership
skills to better the society. In the end, leadership benefits the society in a very healthy way.
