SUPPORTING ECONOMIC GROWTH IN BENDIGO
Bendigo will benefit from the Abbott Government’s commitment to build the infrastructure of the 21st Century with $106.03m for local projects announced in the 2014-15 Budget.
This is part of the Government’s Economic Action Strategy to invest a record $7.6 billion in productivity-enhancing infrastructure in Victoria which will create thousands of jobs, slash travel times and boost economic growth.
Patron Senator for Bendigo, Senator the Hon Michael Ronaldson, said the funding will support much needed infrastructure projects in Bendigo.
“They will bring job opportunities, boost our local economy and make our roads safer for motorists.
Senator Ronaldson said that 6 projects in the Bendigo electorate will receive funding including;
• Calder Highway – Ravenswood Interchange: $45 million Australian Government contribution;
• Regional Freight Roads Programme: $60 million Australian Government contribution;
• Kyneton Community Park Construction: $500 000 Australian Government contribution;
• Bendigo RSL Museum & Memorial Hall- Refurbishment Planning: $180 000 Australian Government contribution;
• Woodend Youth Facility Upgrade: $50 000 Australian Government contribution and
• Mount Alexander Shire Accommodation and Respite Group - Construction of New Facility: $300 000 Australian Government contribution.
“Projects like these will relieve pressure on existing infrastructure and unlock the economic capacity of Bendigo, making it an even better place to live and do business,” Senator Ronaldson said.
