ETHICAL PERSPECTIVES
Egoism or Self Interest Perspective
The use of drones for domestic use aligns directly with the selfinterest perspecti!e" The
use of drones for the company would wor# to increase producti!ity and thus would increase the
product $ase and the amount of time it ta#es for products to $e shipped or deli!ered" There are
#nown deli!ery ser!ices% such as &ed'( and )*S% and then there are +independent contractors,%
li#e -asership% who holds a contract with .ma/on" The +independent contractors, are
supposedly the employees% $ut they do not recei!e $enefits and reim$ursements" .s mentioned
in the article% the dri!ers are the drones for those contractors of .ma/on" They are the ones who
ma#e .ma/on *rime a fast deli!ery ser!ice% for the time $eing" . dri!er stated% +0 #now they1!e
gi!en us a 2o$% and we ha!e to respect that% $ut when you wor# hard% they should pay you more
not ta#e more away",
'mployees who are independent contractors or not would face unemployment in the end
anyways% due to actual air drones ta#ing o!er" Since drones are so 3uic# to respond to things
anyway% it would $e easier and more cost efficient to 2ust ha!e drones do the wor# than hiring
physical $odies to do the 2o$" &or e(ample% with .ma/on% although there is personnel to deli!er
stuff% it4s cheaper and more cost effecti!e way to deli!er stuff" 5ne person shared their thoughts
on drone use +"""each stop releases a swarm of drones" 5ne stop deli!ers fi!e pac#ages rather
than one",
Social Group Relativism
0f we loo# at domestic drone usage through the Social 6roup 7elati!ism ideology% we are
loo#ing at what our social group deems appropriate in regards to whate!er the topic may $e" 0n

the case of Drones% there are a handful of sta#eholder4s perspecti!es that we could analy/e to see
what stance each group would feel o$ligated in ta#ing" The groups are8 The tech scientists% the
corporations that would $e using the domestic drones% the military and the wor#ers whose 2o$s
would $e replaced $y the drones"
The Tech Scientists
The technological people or the people who in!ented the drones and drone science would
$e up for the use of their product in mainstream society $ecause it gi!es them the chance to
$ranch out of only creating drones for military use and military mission% which could add to their
indi!idual portfolios"
The Corporations
The corporations who want to use the drones for their commercial use would also $e
o#ay with the domestic use of drones" The drones would $e a cheaper alternati!e to ha!ing
personnel deli!erers of pac#ages and such and it would also help with the company4s
promotional outlets if they were a$le to ensure 3uic#er response times for their orders"
The Military
The military can $e a hit or miss with this ideology" &or com$at purposes% drones can $e
helpful in pinpointing and sharpshooting targets or enemies" 0t also ta#es out the ris# of friendly
fire since the drones are programmed with the coordinates already" 9owe!er% on the flipside% the
use of drones can $e seen as perpetuating the pro$lem with militaristic youth who 2oin the
military under the impression that it will $e 2ust li#e their Call of Duty game which the same
concept as a drone is" The scary part of that is the detachment those soldiers would ha!e to their

enemy" They would in essence $e desensiti/ed from the reality that their enemies are tangi$le
things and not num$ers on a screen"
The Workers
&rom the perspecti!e of the wor#ers% the use of drones is detrimental to their well$eing
and their li!elihood" 0f drones were accepted% then they could lose their 2o$s and essentially get
replaced $y ro$ots"
Utilitarianism
0f we are loo#ing at the use of drones from a )tilitarian ideology% then we are essentially
loo#ing at the greatest outcome for the greatest amount of people" :hen we analy/e the use of
drones for domestic use in that sense% it goes against the utilitarian mindset" The one thing that is
great a$out drones $ecomes its $iggest downfall" The idea of using autopilot technology creates a
situation where the deterrent to personal gain is not reduced" This $asically allows for a
rearmament of indi!iduals which does not in turn lead to the greatest outcome for the greatest
good% it leads to the greatest outcome for the greater indi!idual" .fter this% it would only $e a
matter of time $efore people would create their own domestic drones to utili/e for their own
personal deeds and that would decrease national capital and could send the country $ac# into an
economic depression due to the insta$ility that lea!es" 0n this instance% the indi!idual would not
$e sacrificing their personal interests% they would actually $e gaining on them"
