To Whom It May Concern,
I would like to recommend Ms. Alexa Queenie Tagaban for any program she wishes to apply for. In my years of teaching, Alexa has been one of the most remarkable students that I have had the privilege to teach. I first met Alexa when she was a freshman student at Bioscience High School. She was recommended to the high school, because she liked the more hands-on learning, collaborative environment, science focus, and inquiry-based learning that we offer. As a freshman, she was a little shy, but quickly came out of her shell. She found every opportunity to be involved in projects, where she got to work with upper-classmen and engage with her peers. That first year, she took on many clubs, and surveyed the options, and opportunities available to her.
Sophomore year is where I really saw her shine. She had figured out her passions, much earlier than her peers, and was ready to strive for above and beyond all teacher expectations. The only behavior issues I ever had with her was that she would just keep learning and reading when we asked her to move on. We would joke that she was the only students I would ask to stop researching and reading. She is an avid reader, and was part of the group that I coined the book club. That year, I had Queenie for two hours a day, in a humanities block, where she learned world history and English. We did many collaborative research projects, and Queenie always surpassed my expectations. Queenie would think so much out of the box, that I had a hard time grading her presentations. She is able to make connections with everything she learns, to everything she learns. She found ways to connect every literary piece and novel we read, with every historical unit we covered. She also found ways to connect all historical units to current day topics and issues. And, of course, she always was passionate about her projects because she found a niche that she was passionate about. She thrives on interdisciplinary work.
Junior year, I also had the privilege of having Queenie for a two-hour block, for American History and English. She was now heading many of the clubs on campus, tutoring friends and colleagues, and again surpassing all teacher expectations. She was involved with student government and NHS. She is also a great teammate, and in group projects as she works very well with others.
This year I do not see Queenie in the classroom daily, but she is still very involved in her school, and with outside projects. She is currently the involved in our schools National Honor Society, where she is an officer, and continues to be a part of student government.
Overall I feel she is an exceptional student, with amazing potential. Her fiery passion is extraordinary, and her drive is awesome. It is this drive that will help her succeed in the Preparing Every Student for Success in College, Career and Life

BIOSCIENCE HIGH SCHOOL 512 East Pierce Street Phoenix, Arizona 85004 www.BioscienceHS.org (602) 764-5600 medical field. She dreams of becoming a doctor, and working with children. She will be very good at this, and will work hard to get there. She was also a part of the medical pathway at our school focusing her studies on anatomy physiology, and epidemiology. She is currently serving as an intern at the Arizona Science Center in their Body department. She has also been a part of various summer programs working in the science and medicine as well as volunteering at the local hospital. Queenie is a great student with big dreams. She will one day work on the medical field and I am sure she will be great at it. She will also be successful in anything she puts her mind to. I whole-heartily recommend her for any program she chooses to apply for; as I know she will not only grow from it, but share her knowledge with others.
