Lehigh County Commissioner Scott Ott Resigns,
Family Moves to Texas for Wifes Ministry Work

Lehigh County Commissioner-at-Large Scott Ott announced his resignation from the Board
today with 19 months left in a four-year term. His family will move to Texas where his wife,
Stephanie, has been hired by a church as full-time director of childrens ministry.

The resignation takes effect May 30. The Board begins the normal process of appointing a
Republican to fulll the unexpired portion of Otts term.

Ott was elected in 2011, and has served as the Boards vice chair, as well as chairing several
committees. His full-time job as a writer and video commentator for PJTV.com makes it possible
for him to work from any place in the world where they have a good internet connection.

Stephanie has a calling to serve Jesus through childrens ministry, Ott said, and Im delighted
to be able to support that calling. I admire her passion and dedication to both the Lord and to
our family.

The couple worked together directing childrens ministry for ve years at a camp in Zionsville,
and Stephanie was, most recently, part-time director of childrens ministry at a church in
Allentown.

Ott expressed regret that he wont get to be here for the outcome of some of the work he and
his colleagues have begun.

Weve accomplished much on the Board of Commissioners to help restrain spending, to reject
waste and to reform the process, to make county government more sustainable and effective in
the long run, Ott said. But theres a lot more to do, and Im condent that my colleagues will
continue to work hard at it.

From the beginning, this has been a team effort, built on principle, not politics or personality,
he said. During my time on the Board, perhaps my greatest honor was nominating Lisa
Scheller as chair. Shes a leader who understands organizational structure, budgets, labor
negotiations and how to craft sound policy.
