Bright Beginnings Learning Center

Business Proposal

Jason Samuelson
104 W. Main Street
Marion, MI 49665

The proposed Bright Beginnings Learning Center, located in Marion, MI, is where
learning and fun become one. A primary place for young children to learn social skills and
become exposed to an academic environment to prepare them for future successes. Bright
Beginnings toddler program is centered on the natural curiosity and energy of young children.
We will provide children with a foundation that can shape their futures, and leave parents with a
piece of mind.
Today parents are facing greater economic pressures forcing both parents to work. As a
result children are being sent to child care centers at an earlier age, then times in the past. Marion
is home to many blue collar families who are facing this such problem with many traveling up to
25 miles to drop their children off at child care centers. There is also a head start program that is
offered through the public school, but in this rural area the child care industry is far behind many
standards larger cities have implemented. So for parents of this area it comes down to three very
limited choices for their children. Send their child care center 25 miles out of their way, in home
day care center, a lacking head start program, or hire a nanny that many families cannot truly
afford.
Being from the area we know working women typically opt will for the child care center
over a nanny. The reasoning is, child care centers better prepare children for admission into
schools when they reach the proper age. Parents do have a few concerns though; So many
centers do not provide adequate chances to grow intellectually and emotionally while having
purposeful fun along the way; hiring a nanny puts a lot of responsibility on one adult can be
overwhelming for the nanny instead of an entire staff caring for children at child care centers.
This is where Bright Beginnings will step in and alleviate all of these concerns with a solution
suited for all families in need of child care.
Jason and Kelly Samuelson will be co-owners of Bright Beginnings Learning Center.
With a Bachelor in Early Childhood Education and an Associates in Business Management,
Kelly will be in charge of the educational side of the business. Additionally she has firsthand
experience working in two different child care centers and raising her own son. Jason holds a
Bachelors degree in Construction Management along with serving in the United States Army for
six years. He will be in charge of the office and managerial side of the business.
Bright Beginnings will offer care to two age groups. 2-3 years of age and 4-5 years of
age. This will give the children more time to transition before going to kindergarten.
Toddlers program (2-3 years)
The curriculum for toddlers will provide an enriching environment with activities
designed to enhance a child's total development while being in a quality early childhood
education environment. The daycare curriculum will allow the toddlers to spend busy and
fulfilled days engaged in activities that will promote learning. Teachers who are assigned for the
toddler age student group will be trained to incorporate appropriate literature, educational
material, music, specially selected materials, and resources. All of this with to promote the
enhancement and rapid changes that occur in a childs brain in the earliest stages of life.
Preschool group (4-5 years)
Studies have found that learning improves when children are engaged in enjoyable and
meaningful activities. This is why every curriculum will include a variety of intriguing activities
that can stimulate early brain development with a focus on creative plays. This program will be
filled with fun and educational activities that will be carefully designed to help bring out a child's
natural curiosity and encourage a lifelong joy of learning with a curriculum with themed studies
and more.
As of now Bright Beginnings is in the idea stage. Our business proposal is the first step in
exploring the market potential for our business. The current time frame for opening Bright
Beginnings Learning center is one year. This is our timeline we wish to pursue.
Month 1: Complete feasibility study and Complete Business Proposal
Month 2-4: Pursue start-up capital
Month 5-6: Receive start-up capital
Month 7: Secure location and permits
Month 7-8: Plan and order equipment
Month 9: Set up location
Month 10-11: Receive inventory and set up center
Month 12: Open Bright Beginnings Learning Center
With the previous information our potential clients for Bright Beginnings would be
demographically in the Marion area, with children ranging in ages from 2-5; whose parents both
work away from the home. With Marion being a small town word of mouth is a very strong
advertising tool. As both of the co- owners Jason and Kelly are originally from Marion we shall
capitalize on this opportunity by talking to friends, family, and community members as our main
avenue of advertising. We also would put an ad in the local newspaper along with hanging flyers
at local establishments around town which will provide ample advertisement.
With any business there are appropriate costs and restrictions associated. In the following
