1. Students will identify the resources Helen Keller used to overcome her disabilities
2. Students will construct examples of the resources Helen Keller used

Overall Time: 40 minutes
Time Frame
5 minute introduction ( go over any questions from the video lesson, and introduce the lessons
activities)
10 minute assessment worksheet
20 minute braille hands on activity
5 minute closure, discussion on what was learned


STRATEGIES: Teacher led discussion, hands on activity, class discussion
DIFFERENTIATED INSTRUCTION/ ADAPTATIONS/ INTERVENTIONS
I will use visual aids to benefit the visual learners in my classroom. I will also use hands on activities to
help retain the attention of the kinesthetic learners. The classroom discussions will benefit the auditory
learners.
PROCEDURES:
I will ask if there are any questions regarding the video lesson
Class Discussion about the video lesson and its content
I will go over the activities for the lesson




PROCEDURES: Body & Transitions

I will pass out the formative assessment worksheet
The students will complete the worksheet
I will collect the formative assessment worksheet
I will pass out the supplies for the hands on braille activity (glue, construction paper, braille
alphabet guide worksheet)
I will go over instructions and answer any questions
Walk around the room/help facilitate the activity
I will take up the students braille papers
The students will clean up their work stations




PROCEDURES:
After the students clean up the work stations we will review what we learned from the activity

I will give a pre assessment worksheet prior to the lesson

The class discussion will serve as the formative assessment

The assessment worksheet will act as the summative assessment

EXTENDED ACTIVITIES
If Student Finishes Early: Students will construct additional examples of braille.
If Lesson Finishes Early: We will construct words using the braille alphabet.
If Technology Fails: I will have the power point printed out and I will transfer the key points to the board.
I will have the braille alphabet examples printed out and will give each student a copy to use to
construct their braille project.
