Jigsaw II is a learning strategy where students are given subsections and they become experts on that subsection and then teach their subsection to others.

Specifying learning Objectives: Have specific and clear learning objectives planned out. Preparing study guides: Plan study guides in mind of the resources the students will have at hand to research their subsection. Forming student teams: It is important to plan teams carefully. Each team should be organized so that each student has the opportunity to participate. Supplementing expert presentations: Prepare to fill in information towards your learning objective that your student experts may have missed

Assigning Experts: The teacher can assign the topic or you can allow students to pick. Allowing students to pick provides practice social negotiation. Information Gathering: Students will gather information to teach to the class. This allows students to have a deep understanding on their topic and provides practice in gathering and organizing information. It also helps students become self-directed. Expert Meetings: Each member of a group will come together with the research information that they found and share and organize what they will present to the class. Teachers may have to step in and guide groups.

Peer Instruction: Groups will teach their classmates on their topic. It needs to be carefully structured and time need to be taken into account. Be sure to your students understand that they are responsible to their information and the other groups information. Guided noes can be given to help students take notes. Review and Closure: There will information that was not covered by the groups. Review the main topics that were covered and miss.

Assessment is both formal and informal. Teachers need to make sure that each member of the groups are participating and the guided notes can also be a form of assessment. Quizzes and short essays are also forms of formal assessment. Students will be motivated to work together with their team to show their classmates that they were student experts on their topic.

Jigsaw II allows students to gain experiences with social negotiation, self-directed, leadership, social interaction skills, presentation and communicating clearly all the while gaining a deep understanding on their topic.
