Big Ideas:

Skilled performances depend upon an understanding of the relationship between the body and movement. Being physically fit has an impact on ones health and well-being. A physically active lifestyle will provide health, enjoyment, challenge, self-expression and/or social interaction. Being physically active contributes to an overall healthy life.
Unit Goals and Objectives: Cognitive- Students will be able to state one locomotor skill and 1 nonlocmotor skills used for. the performance of the game. Psychomotor- Students will be able to perform 2 locomotor and 2 nonlocomotor skills in game. Affective- Students will be able to feel confident and enjoy playing with peers during game.

Unit Summary:

This unit prepares students with the experiences necessary in gaining the skills, knowledge, and behaviors requires to participate in nontraditional sports. This course prepares students with the knowledge and skills of pickle ball, speedball, ultimate frisbee, and lacrosse. For each activity, students will learn the history, rules, skills, and sport specific strategies.

Assessment Plan:

Entry-Level: Teacher Lecture and guided notes

Formative: Webercise, quizzes, worksheets, and in class activities

Summative: Teaching Presentation and (PT) Performance Test on each activity/sport

Lesson 1 Pickle Ball Student Learning Objective: Cog: SWBAT state 1 locomotor and 1 non locomotor skill used for the performance of Pickle ball. Psy: SWBAT perform 2 locomor and non locomotor skills in pickle ball. Aff: SWBAT feel confident and enjoy playing with peers during a game of pickle ball. Lesson 2 Ultimate Frisbee/Speedball Student Learning Objective: Cog: SWBAT state 1 locomotor and 1 non locomotor skill used in performance of Ultimate Frisbee & Speedball. Psy: SWBAT perfrom 2 locomotor & non locomotor skills in each of the activities/sports. Aff: SWBAT feel confident and enjoy playing with peers during ultimate Frisbee and speedball games.
