Powerful Beyond Measure Senior Speech

Youre almost therehigh school graduation. It is a big milestone in life, and it deserves to be celebrated and remembered. What better way to reflect back on your high school years than to write a senior speech? This assignment gives you a chance to share memories from your high school experience, while still helping develop mastery of the State Speaking and Writing Standards. The theme for the speech is the same as the theme for the yearpowerful beyond measure! There are three main things you will be expected to do in this speech: Share memories from your high school experience. These memories should be specific enough to be clearly memorable to the speaker, but broad enough that they are relatable to the student body. Discuss lessons learned through experiences during your high school career. These should be lessons that have been obtained through personal experience and/or experiences of those close to you. Give advice for the future. Based on the experiences and lessons youve learned throughout your life, give advice and/or words of encouragement to your peers. Try to inspire them to achieve their full potential.

For this assignment, you will be graded not only on your message, but on your delivery as well. A specific rubric will be used to grade your speech: Speaker shares relevant memories of high school experience ___/10 Speaker discusses lessons learned through specific experiences ___/10 Speaker gives advice to help encourage peers and excite them about their future ___/10 Speaker is well prepared and knows the speech, not reading word for word from a paper ___/10 Speaker is engaging, with positive body language ___/10 Total ____/50 Your Speech should be between 4-7 minutes in order to qualify for a grade. Anything shorter will not be graded. No exceptions. There will be NO skipping over students if they claim to be unprepared. If you do not have an outline, you will still be expected to speak. Not being in class on the day of the speech does not warrant a make-up of the speech. Unless you are involved in a school excused activity, you will be expected to be in class on the day(s) we present, and give your speechprepared or not. No exceptions.
