Chat Tool To conduct the chat we used (give the name of the tool you used): We used Google Hangouts for the chat tool. We were able to see each other via video, talk to each other, and use the chat feature on the side bar to communication with group members. We also used Gmails chat tool to communicate and solve connectivity problems when creating a video chat.

Positives of this chat tool were: The quality of the video and voice feature was high quality and did not lag. Google Hangouts is browser based, so it is easy for all group members to access without downloading and installing files. The website is intuitive and easy to use the first time. Google Hangouts works on computers as well as Apple and Android mobile devices to accommodate the technology of the majority of the users.

Negatives of using this chat tool were: Group members need to have an invitation to join Google + before using Google Hangouts. With the first use of Google Hangouts, a user may have to update plug-ins and restart the browser. At times, the Google Hangouts video feature may shut down if a users Internet connection slows down. If users become disconnected from the group chat feature of Google Hangouts, they may not be able to regain access to the text posted by other group members. When installing software on a school-licensed computer, prearranged meetings with a Computer Resource Specialist may be required to install the software. This challenge must be taken into consideration when preparing for meetings. Also, the use of Google+s video software seems to limit the use of the chat tool while connected, creating challenges for users to seamlessly interact via text and voice/video chat.
