S Byatt Literary Criticism Annotated Bibliography Lucy Lethbridge. A way with words. Short Story Criticism. Ed. Jessica Bomarito and Jelena O. Krstovic. Vol. 91. Detroit. America 191.9 (4 Oct. 2004) p17-18. Gale Literature Resource Center. Web. 27 Mar. 2014. In this source Lucy Lethbridge covers A.S Byatts writing style. Lucy refers to several works of A.S Byatt like A stone woman, The Pink Ribbon, and The Thing in the Forest. Although Lucy Does not speak much about The Thing in the Forest she uses it to refer back to A.S Byatts writing style. Which is mixing folklores or myth into her stories. Lucy Calls it a story about stories Compared to my other source you could see that Lucy Lethbridge focus more on the writing style of A.S Byatt than any of the sources I provided to you. There really is not much of criticism or scholarly papers out there for A.S Byatts The Thing in the Forest, so is this source credible? In my opinion yes because I got it from a database that only have articles that are reviewed by a board scholars before being placed in that database. The article is objective because it clearly just focus on the writing style of A.S Byatt. The goal of this article is for you to see how A.S Byatt has the same writing style for more than one story she has written and to exclaim her skills in those different literary elements such as imagery and symbolism.

This source will help me compare The Thing in the Forest to other works of A.S Byatt. So it will be helpful when I need to compare it to a different story like The Pink Ribbon and A stone woman. Maria Margaronis Where the Wild Things Are Short Story Criticism. Ed. Jessica Bomarito and Jelena O. Krstovic. Vol. 91. Detroit. The Nation 278.23 (14 June 2004) p24-28. Gale Literature Resource Center. Web. 27 Mar. 2014. Maria Margaronis in Where the Wild Things Are talks about A.S Byatts stories and Maria explains the stories in depth. She speaks about The Thing in the Forest, Raw Material, The Pink Ribbon, and even A Stone Woman. Maria even goes into A.S Byatt history. She mostly covers the imagery and theme of A.S Byatts stories. Now compared to Lucy Lethbridge Maria goes really in depth of the imagery of The Thing in the Forest. Not only just The Thing in the Forest but Raw Material and the other stories I listed before. Just like I said for Lucy source this source is credible because I got it from a database that only have articles that are reviewed by a board scholars before being placed in said database. Whether the source is objective or bias I say both but leaning towards the bias side more because she adds her own opinion to the imagery as she talks about it. The Goal of this source mostly to elaborate the imagery of A.S Byatts works. This source will help me even more than Lucy Lethbridge when it comes to compare the stories. Maria will help me compare imagery between A.S Byatts stories. Also help me give a little history of Ms. Byatt. So Maria Margaronis will be an extremely useful source for my paper. Mays, Kelly J. ed. The Norton Introduction to Literature Shorter 11th ed. New York: Norton, 2013. Print

A.S. Byatt The Thing in the Forest Mays 304. Print Kelly J. Mays book is the most useful source I have. Not only does this book have A.S. Byatts The Thing in the Forest but it puts under a literary elements that I can analyze it. I still have to analyze the text myself but it helps out when the book put the story under the category it falls well under. Another reason why this is my best source is simply because what better way to back up what you say then the text itself in the story. Plus if I need help understanding what I am trying to explain I can just refer to other pages in her book, The Norton Introduction to Literature Is an easy book to read when try to understand literature and its many forms/sections. Samantha Matthews Monsters, Trolls, and Creative writers Short Story Criticism. Ed. Jessica Bomarito and Jelena O. Krstovic. Vol. 91. Detroit. Times literary supplement 5248 (31 Oct. 2003) p21-22. Gale Literature Resource Center. Web. 27 Mar. 2014 Samanthas main point in this source is how well thought up the short stories of Ms. Byatt actually are. The topics of imagery, symbolism, plus Ms. Byatts past essays, and her influences are covered in this source. Samantha speaks about how descriptive the imagery is. Samantha as says the symbolism of the worm is not just the obvious or as she puts it Not weakened into mere symbolism. Samantha only uses the past essays as examples or references and her influences are used to explain how she came up with her work. This source I think is my best source out of all the other critics I have, since it uses different views and makes statements that could really help me out in research paper. Just like I said for Lucy and Maria sources this source is credible because I got it from a database that only have articles that are reviewed by a board scholars before being placed in said database. This

article is bias because you can see its mostly Samanthas opinion rather than hard facts. The goal of this source is to give you a critics opinion of Ms. Byatts work. This source will help me when I want to compare my analysis to someone elses. So this source as well as Maria will be extremely helpful when it comes to the imagery, But Samanthas will be best for symbolism.
