"Put your instruments on your laps, and put your eyes on me" ** All Daily Drill is at Quarter=86 1. Breathing Goal: Stop, breathe, and focus in. It doesn't hurt to remind student's how to breathe properly. Breathe In for 6, out for 6 o Breathe in evenly o Do not hold breath Breathe In for 4, out for 4 with hand as visual: o Full breath o No hitch in the air

2. Mouthpiece Vibrations Goal: To help center brass pitches, and build aural to muscle memory. "Brass, take your mouthpieces out and keep your instruments on your lap." (Unless they have a burp) "Everyone show me your best playing position" Play concert F on mouthpiece with drone as reference. o Correct individuals while brass is sustaining pitch Trade 4s between woodwinds and brass (still on mouthpieces) with 4 counts in between. o Give feedback/reminders during rests o Brass should play with the same intensity, note shape, and vibrant sound as the ww model. Play concert F with full ensemble. Mouthpieces back on instruments. Play 4 rest 4. o Give feedback/reminders during rests

3. Remington (ww players will play this exercise with subdivided vibrato on either triplets or sixteenth notes.) Goal: Listen and balance across the ensemble, aural interval training, centering instantly after interval change, and correct note shapes. Play Remington with Brass echoing on mouthpiece. o Give feedback/reminders during rests. o Brass should play with the same intensity, note shape, and vibrant sound as the ww model. o Brass should center the new note instantly after the interval change. Play Remington will full ensemble. (Brass on instruments) o Give feedback/reminders during rests.

4. Trading 4s Goal: Listen and match tuning, intensity, and note shape between your section, and the rest of the ensemble. Play exercise while using a Metronome & cuing sections o Listen for tuning discrepancies, and other fundamental issues for feedback after exercise. Tune a couple of sections. o Fix centering first if needed. Play exercise again with corrections. o Listen for any other tuning/ fundamental issues
