Risk Factors: A risk factor is a possible chance that you will contract a disease or condition.

It may not be a direct cause of a specific disease, but seem to be associated with its development in some way. Risk factor for pneumonia often depend on the particular type of disease or microorganism which causes it. Yet, some people are more likely than others to develop pneumonia. Risk factors are: Housing- People who reside in a place where people live close together, such as a college dorm and nursing homes. !ample: s"uatter area are at higher risk for pneumonia. Environmental pollutants- People who are chronically e!posed to secondhand cigarette smoke are also at risk. #hronic e!posure to certain chemicals $e!% pangangalakal $waste management& such as to!ic fumes, industrial smoke, and other air pollutants may also damage cilia function, which is a defense against bacteria in the lungs. Diet- Pneumonia occurs more in malnourished people Occupation/work- 'here you work can put you at higher risk for e!posure to pneumonia(causing organisms.
