Competency 1: Accountability
Related Task: 1.1 Ability to analyze and interpret the meaning of various student assessments to teaching staff and others. Specific Task: 1.1.2 Present and interpret standardized test results to parents and/or staff members. Narrative of specific task: I will help present information to parents at a PTA general meeting regarding the new NWEA testing that our students are taking this year. I will work alongside a colleague and the administrator to complete a Power Point presentation that will be shared at the PTA meeting. I will also present NWEA Kindergarten trends across grade level to our School Improvement Team during an SIT meeting to look at areas that need to be focused on when setting School Improvement Goals for next year.

Competency 3: Community Relations


Related Task: 3.7 Ability to design a public relations program Specific Task: 3.7.3 Create and/or edit a school-wide newspaper Narrative of specific task: Currently, Kurtz Elementary does not have a student newspaper. I will work with the student leadership team to prepare, edit and publish a school newspaper that will focus on student achievements throughout each grade level. This newspaper will be an open line of communication with the stakeholders of the school

Competency 5: Fiscal Management


Related Task: 5.4 Knowledge of methods and sources for acquiring federal, state and foundation support. Specific Task: 5.4.3 Define a role in writing a grant or application for federal, state or foundation funds.

Narrative of specific task: I will help the Kurtz Elementary administrator to collect data and move forward with the process of implementing The Leader in Me program at our school. I will use the Survey Monkey results from the staff to guide our decision to move forward with the program. I will assist in writing The Leader in Me foundation application, asking for monetary support to implement the program starting in the fall of 2014.

Competency 4:

Curriculum, Instruction, Supervision

Related Task: 4.3 Knowledge of a variety of instructional methods and skills Specific Task: 4.3.6 Conduct at least one clinical supervision cycle including pre-observation, classroom observation and evaluation session with teacher. Narrative of specific task: A pre-observation meeting, classroom observation and post-observation using the Huron Valley School districts observation tool will be carried out. A written observation will be constructed using the districts teacher evaluation rubric. Upon completion of the evaluation process, a comparison will be made to the states requirements for teacher evaluation, the wording in the Huron Valley Education Association contract, and current teacher knowledge of the evaluation process. This comparison will identify gaps in the current evaluation process and offer recommendations to help bridge those gaps so that all teachers can grow professionally

Competency 10: Staff Personnel


Related Task: 10.10 Knowledge of principles and procedures for identifying and dismissing incompetent staff. Specific Task: 10.10.2 Write a sample letter notifying a hypothetical staff member of placement on probationary status. The letter will include: district procedures, statement of charges, a statement informing the teacher of his/her rights. Narrative of specific task: Compare Huron Valleys procedure for identifying and dismissing incompetent staff with that of another neighboring district.

Competency X:
Related Task: Job Shadowing

Job Shadowing

Specific Task: Spend a minimum of one entire day (including after school and evening responsibilities) shadowing the cooperative administrator. Narrative of specific task: Assist administrator, when appropriate, in accomplishing responsibilities. Maintain a journal of activities and prepare a visual representation of how the administrator utilized her time throughout the day (for example: student issues, parent issues, curriculum, etc.).
