Christen McAfee Writing Attitude Assessment This 2nd grade student was indifferent about writing; her raw

score 70, putting her in the 24th percentile. While she did not completely dislike writing, she was very clear about not enjoy writing in her free time, completing writing assignments, and creating stories. She did infer that she admired writing as a profession or if she had a very clear, personally beneficial purpose for writing something. During the assessment, I noticed her demeanor change when she realized the entire assessment was about writing. She was not too thrilled. In class she had be struggling with an assignment, because she refused to think of ideas to create and invention and write them down. For my observation, she has a problem putting her thoughts to words. Even when she speaks, it takes her a while to say what she is thinking; I would presume that is one of the reasons she does not enjoy writing as much, though she thinks it is an admirable task. My student was so excited to be done with this assessment!
