You are on page 1of 6

Layout mode of address

The language on the front cover is very simple and clear. This allows for the reader to have a clear understanding and know what the magazines all about. This is very appealing for the target audience because its an easy read and teenagers dont like hard tasks. This layout is very clear with only a little overlaying so it is easily readable. The fact that each bit has its own line is key because it allows the reader to flow through the topics and yet they all seem separate.

genre specific conventions

The left third is full of information about the magazine which is convention of variety a music magazine. of fonts and text

audiences and representations

I think it has a late teen"early adult audience which is clearly represented by the girls on the cover who seem in their late teens"early twenties. This is clearly like the magazine I want to do because that is also my target audience.

sizes
The fonts are only a mixture of 3 different fonts that I think establish the pecking order of the topics I think this because the bolder the font the more important the topic is for example the masterhead is in the boldest biggest text while the least bold and smallest text is the little add!ons that you have to put in but arent important.

page design
The page is very average in design because it has nearly all the convections of a magazine for example the left third being made up of information regarding the magazine and the masthead taking up a strip at the top of the magazine cover.

integration of illustration and text

The text is very integrated because it stands out and blend in at the same time. The text and illustrations dont detract from the picture but it also allows for the reader to get an understanding of what the magazines about.

genre specific conventions

The left third is full of information about the magazine which is convention of a music magazine. 'nother convention of a ()* music magazine seem to be that the person on the cover is really famous and well known which I think is there to promote the magazine and make it look important. page design The page is normal in its design because it has all the conventions of a music magazine which I can identify. It is also designed as if to make the reader $ump to teach topic. There lakes a flow in the presentation which I think makes it greatly less appealing.

audiences and representations

I think it has a adult audience which is clearly represented by bob &arley on the cover who seems to bee looking you in the eye which I think implies that if you are like him then you will like the magazine . This is what I want to do because that is also partly my target audience.

integration of illustration and text

The text is very important because it stands out throughout the range of text leads to the idea that they all have their own meaning. The text doesnt detract from the picture but it also allows for the reader to get an understanding of what the magazines about.

Layout
This layout is #uite complex because it has a lot of overlaying which makes it harder too read. The fact that there is only one main picture makes it simpler though because if there were more pictures then it would draw to much attention away from the rest of the magazine cover

mode of address
The language on the front cover is very simple and clear. This allows for the reader to have a clear understanding and know what the magazines all about but it is also in other languages which I think makes it harder to understand because you dont know what its say. This is a problem teenagers dont like hard tasks so I dont think they would most likely read it at all.

variety of fonts and text sizes

The fonts are only a mixture of % fonts that I think establish the pecking order of the topics I think this because the bolder the font the more important the topic is for example the masterhead is in the boldest biggest text while the least bold and smallest text is the little add!ons that you have to put in but arent important. This is again like there other music magazine cover which I think makes it a convention of it genre.

page design
The page is very extra!ordinary in design because it has nearly none of the convections of a music magazine for example the left third being made up of information regarding the magazine and the masthead taking up a strip at the top of the page+ isn,t there so its different and uni#ue which is why I choose it.

Layout
This layout is very clear nothing overlaps so it seem separate. The right third is full of information about the magazine which is the exact opposite of the convention of a music magazine being the fact that its all normally on the left third which I think doesnt look as good.

audiences and representations

I think it has a late teen"early adult audience which is clearly represented by the girl on the cover who seem in their late teens"early twenties. This is clearly like the magazine I want to do because that is also my target audience.

mode of address
The language is very simple and clear. This allows for the reader to have a clear understanding and know what the magazines all about. This is very appealing for the target audience because its an easy read and teenagers dont like hard tasks.

variety of fonts and text sizes

The fonts are only a mixture of % different fonts. This makes it easier to pick up the key points because they are in bold. The size is a bit of a disadvantage though because it makes it harder to read because its so small.

integration of illustration and text

The text is very integrated because it stands out and blend in at the same time. The text and illustrations dont detract from the picture but it also allows for the reader to get an understanding of what the magazines about.

page design
The page is very average in design because it has nearly all the convections of a magazine for example the left third being made up of information regarding the magazine and the masthead taking up a strip at the top of the magazine cover.

mode of address
The language on the front cover is very simple and clear which is $ust like the masterhead. I think this helps the reader to get a clear understanding and know what the magazines all about. This is I think would make it more appetizing to the target audience because its an easy read and most people dont want to put much effort into reading a music magazine

integration of illustration and text

The text is #uite unclear I think it blends in too well and makes it look unimportant. The text and illustrations dont detract from the picture in actual fact it seems that the whole focus should be on the picture not the writing its self.

audiences and representations

I think it has a mid!twenties audience and I think thats represented by the women on the cover who seem around that age. 'lso the writing is sophisticated but not so much that its posh and old.

variety of fonts and text sizes

The font seems to be all one style which I think is to make it all look connected in some way not $ust a bunch of things on several different line. The fact they are different sizes though suggest that the bigger the writing the more important it is which I think helps you navigate the page.

Layout
This layout is easily read. I think this is because it is mainly filled with a picture which I think is like the coverpage but it doesnt have a masterhead $ust a title which is contents page. The fact that the left third is filled with the information needed makes it readable and easier to follow.

Layout
This layout is very clear so it is easily readable. The use of columns in the layout makes it look structure and focused but the use of the pictures makes it more fun and readable.

integration of illustration and text

The large image and several smaller images of the girl integrated with the text in bold blue indicates who the girl is and identifies her as an important person. The large image is eye! catching and added with the clothes she is wearing it all attracts the reader.

mode of address
'lthough the amount of text is #uite a bit its clearly readable and the small #uotation on the side gives a overview of the article I think this is to keep the reader interested because most people like short and snappy text.

audiences and representations

I think it has a late teen"early adult audience which is clearly represented by the girl all over the page who seem in her late teens"early twenties. This is clearly like the -!page spred I want to do because that is also my target audience. 'nd it seems to have paid of because this magazine is very popular.

variety of fonts and text sizes

the use of colour and size in the arrangement of the text is vey important because the girls name is the only text with bright colour which makes it seem more important that the rest of the text and to the fact that its in bold empathizes the idea. There is also a lot of text which covers the bottom part of both pages which is small which I think is the main part of the article yet it seems to be less important than the rest of the page.

page design
The colour scheme is soft and simple black blue and red. This gives it a vibrancy and draws the readers eye because its so bright and you are drawn to the key parts of the article.

Layout
This isn,t set out too structured which in a way presents the artist careless and free willed personality. 'lthough it isnt arranged that organised it is still easy to distinguish

audiences and representations

I think it has a late teen"early adult audience which is clearly represented by )icki mina$ on the cover who is in her late twenties. This is clearly like the -!page spread I want to do because that is also my target audience.

mode of address
the text is set up as the 12 commandments which is very different because youd expect a lot of slang and swearing. I think the use of religious words and phrases like as .Thou shalt.. and .3ospel draws the attention of people who would maybe be put off by bad language which is commonly seen in this genre.

page design
The page is very abnormal in design because the styling and colour scheme using bright pinks and bold patterns and colours really establishes the artist relating to her recent album ./ink 0riday and presents the reader with her individual style and approach to music.

integration of illustration and text

The text is very integrated because it stands out and blend in at the same time. I also think the image alone is very effective in drawing in readers. The place she is positioned $ust off to the right shows that she is dominating the page being somewhere that she can be partially on each side without her being distorted by the fold of the page.

variety of fonts and text sizes

The page challenges normal conventions of language that is commonly used in hip hop magazines.
