Interest groups pursue their goals in many areas while their fundamental goal is to influence the political decision making process and public policy in a way that benefits their cause. B. What is a political group and state its fundamental goal? Political Party- a team of people seeking to control the governing apparatus by gaining office in a duly constituted election. Their fundamental goal is to elect people to office and gain control of government. C. Two ways interest groups support the fundamental goal of political parties in the political process. Public action committee donations or monetary contributions Media campaigns, providing expertise, and mobilization of people D. For one of the forms of support described above, explain two different ways in which that form of support helps interest groups to achieve their fundamental goal in the political process. In general terms, all of the above assist the political parties in getting elected therefore the interest group will: Gain access to / influence policymakers Have like-minded people/policy advocates in office Get legislation that benefits interest groups
