INTRODUCTION

HRM is concerned with a holistic approach towards the management of the people working in an organization who contribute to the achievement of organizational objectives human resource management ensures the most effective and efficient use of human talent for accomplishing the goals of an organization. in order to success fully utilize and manage the human resource of an organizational to achieve organizational objectives each organization needs to develop a well defined hr strategy, with human resource becoming central to business success, it is important for firms to ensure that they have the right talent in place for to day as well as for the future .hiring has become tougher with a large number of firms trying to tap in to an increasingly limited to talent pool. As firms compete to meet their talent needs successfully, they wage what is commonly referred to as a war of talent. a labour market characterized by high demand & low supply has ensured that talented employees command a high price. Acquisition of human resources is the process by which a firm hires employees to ensure that the required number and types of employees are available to perform organizational activities and accomplish organizational objectives successfully .the process of finding attracting ,and hiring new employees is called staffing. The staffing function of HRM is concerned with seeking and hiring qualified employees. Recruitment is the process of discovering potential candidates and of generating a pool of qualified applicants by encouraging qualified candidates to apply for actual or anticipated job vacancies within the organization. Selection follows recruitment .The selection process involves gathering information about job applicants and using the information for making hiring decisions, the selection process is an exercise in prediction.
