Lesson #3: Chicken Ball

Outcome Objective Time Frame Lesson Activity Students will be able to correctly demonstrate the basketball free throw. During a basketball-type activity, students will correctly demonstrate the four cues (BEEF) of the basketball free throw. 1 class period of 40 minutes Students will be split into 2 teams (green, blue), and will stand on one of the poly spots on their side of the gym. Each student will be assigned a number which will be their number for the entire game. Two basketballs are placed in the center of the playing area in a hula-hoop. The teacher will then call a number, and the students with that number (1 from each team), will run out, grab their basketball and dribble it down to their basketball hoop and attempt a free throw in order to score. While students are playing the game, the teacher will be using the teacher-created rubric to assess the execution of the free throw by each of the students. The free throw will be assessed while students are participating in the basketball-type activity, and will be evaluated by the teacher using a teacher-created rubric.
