DEFINE HOW PEPLAUS THEORY CAN BE USED FOR EVIDENCE BASED PRACTICE
Peplau believed that continuing to learn and interact using evidence based practice was very important. She continuously challenged nurses to use evidence based practice.

DEFINE THE 4 METAPARADIGM CONCEPTS

Person: Peplau states, Both the nurse and the patient/client are persons. Each person brings unique experiences, beliefs, expectations, and patterns of relating to others into all interpersonal relationships (Forchuk, 1991).
Health: Peplau states, This definition underscores the idea of growth as inherent in health. Health is the primary goal of nursing (Forchuk, 1991).

DEFINE THE 4 METAPARADIGM CONCEPTS

Environment: Peplau states, The environment includes the context of the nurse-patient relationship. Systems in the environment can be potentially illness maintaining or health promoting, depending on the interaction of the patterns (Forchuk, 1991).
Nursing: According to Peplau, Nursing is an educative instrument, a maturing force, that aims to promote forward movement of the personality in the direction of creative, constructive, productive, personal and community living. Nursing involves the growth of the nurse and the patient. It is an enabling, empowering, transforming art ( Forchuk, 1991).

DESCRIBE HOW THIS THEORY CAN IMPROVE THE CONTEMPORARY HEALTH CARE ENVIRONMENT With this theory, patients and nurses will have an established relationship. This makes better communication between groups of people locally, regionally and globally.
