ORIGINS/ ROOTS OF BELIEF SYSTEM BUDDHISM


Originated in Northern Indian in 5th century B.C.E. Tradition traces its origin to Siddhartha Guatama Enlightened one This man created the Buddhist belief and it was said that he was born, the earth Siddhartha left his home at age 29 in search of enlightenment. After going through a life of selfdiscipline and meditation, He achieved enlightenment and it alleviated him all his plan and suffering. He then set on a journey of teaching people the path to enlightenment that would liberate them from the cycle of life and death. Later 5 weeks of meditation finally he concluded that in order to avoid suffering he will have to be freed from all desires. At that exact moment called revelation he became the enlightened one, also know as Buddha. His teachings is where the religion of Buddhism comes from. He died from natural cause in mid 8os in a town call kusinagara in 544 B.C

BUDDHISM

Arahant = Fully enlightened person, who might teach others, but not as the one who rediscovered the teachings, just as one who learned it from a current dispensation. Christianity was formed in Palestine (33 C.E), Christianity has 2,100,000,000 followers it has one god and its sacred text is the holy bible. Beliefs are very important to Christianity. Doctrines about God, Jesus Christ, the Trinity, the Bible, angels and demons, and heaven and hell are among the most important. Christian denominations, although in mostly agreement on primary doctrines, can have many differences on secondary doctrines. Given the great historical attention that has been devoted to Christian beliefs, the 2,000 years' worth of available writing on its many subjects, and its sometimes complex philosophical arguments, Christian doctrine can be intimidating, especially for the beginner. The following articles therefore attempt to summarize the general consensus of Christian beliefs.

CONFUCIANISM
Confucianism was formed in china (500 B.C.E) and it has 5,000,000 and its sacred text are Analects (Lunyu), the Five Classics (Wujing), the Four Books (Sishu) Confucianism, the teachings of Confucius during 500 BC, has played an important role in forming Chinese character, behavior and way of living. Its primary purpose is to achieve harmony, the most important social value. Confucius is obviously one of the main advocates of Confucianism but he is actually not the founder, sort of the co-founder. Mencius, and Xunizu also are the important people in the religion of Confucianism. Mencius, Xunzi, and others sustained Confucianism after Confucius died. Around the 2nd century BC, Dong Zhongshu became very influential in the upbringing of Confucianism.There are no main mythical figures in the religion of Confucianism. They do believe in heaven and most of all they believe the nature of the world and how a person can be true to themselves.The most influential person to affect the status of Confucianism was Emperor Ming of the 16th century. He reformed the Confucian cult to focus more fully on the teachings of Confucius and how the nature of a human being is something to be worked on.The civilizations that Mencius and Xunzi and Confucius had to work out of were primitive. They did it by word of mouth and by tradition. The people were spread out and mainly farmers and gatherers so they taught their religion the best way they knew how: oral tradition.These men that led the charge for Confucianism were great leaders. They did it in the manner of complete peacefulness and serenity. There are four main religious holidays of Confucianism. Followers of Confucianism celebrate the birth date of Confucius on September 28. There is also a holiday 106 days after the Winter solstice called Qing Ming, and a festival in April. Chongmyo Taeje is the first Sunday of May. As Confucius stated that ultimate reality is beyond human comprehension, there is no sense of sacred time outside of ordinary time. Confucius was a great supporter of ritual, as he felt that ritual solidified human social bonds; thus, in a sense, ritual sacralized ordinary time and daily life. Confucius stated that divine realms are beyond human comprehension, so there is no Confucian concept of a sacred space outside of the realm of life on earth. The focus of Confucianism is ordinary human interactions, and thus, in a sense, the ordinary space of daily life becomes sacred space.Despite his disinterest in ultimate questions, Confucius was a strong advocate for ritual. He believed that participation in ritual served to unite people and strengthen the human community.

HINDUISM
Hindus believe in a one, all-pervasive Supreme Being who is both immanent and transcendent, both Creator and Unmanifest Reality.Hindus believe in the divinity of the four Vedas, the world's most ancient scripture, and venerate the Agamas as equally revealed. These primordial hymns are God's word and the bedrock of Sanatana Dharma, the eternal religion.Hindus believe that the universe undergoes endless cycles of creation,

preservation and dissolution.Hindus believe in karma, the law of cause and effect by which each
individual creates his own destiny by his thoughts, words and deeds.Hindus believe that the soul reincarnates, evolving through many births until all karmas have been resolved, and moksha, liberation from the cycle of rebirth, is attained. Not a single soul will be deprived of this destiny.Hindus believe that divine beings exist in unseen worlds and that temple worship, rituals, sacraments and personal devotionals create a communion with these devas and Gods.Hindus believe that an enlightened master, or satguru, is essential to know the Transcendent Absolute, as are personal discipline, good conduct,

purification, pilgrimage, self-inquiry, meditation and surrender in God.

Hindus believe that all life is sacred, to be loved and revered, and therefore practice ahimsa, noninjury, in thought, word and deed.Hindus believe that no religion teaches the only way to salvation above all others, but that all genuine paths are facets of God's Light, deserving tolerance and understanding. Shankara (780812)A great Hindu reformer, Shankara was born in Kerala and took sannyasa as a youth. He travelled widely defeating Buddhists and other members of the nastika movements, thus re-establishing the authority of Vedic texts throughout India. He founded the advaita school of Vedanta, ten orders of sannyasa, and monastic centres in four strategic locations.

He is often called Adi Shankara, to differentiate him from the later pontiffs, who to this day are also called "the Shankaracharya." Adi Shankara is often considered an incarnation of Shiva. His contemporary followers in the UK include the Ramakrishna Mission. Abhinavagupta (c. 9601020) A representative of Kashmiri Shaivism and is perhaps its most prolific writer. He propounded a form ofAdvaita Vedanta and wrote the multi-volume Tantraloka. Further Shaivite theologians were Shrikantha (13th century) and Shripati (13501410). Ramanuja (10171137) The most important acharya amongst the Shri Vaishnavas, and the founder of the Vishishtadvaita school, which qualified Shankara's monistic doctrine.

ISLAM
Islam was formed in Arabian peninsula (622 C.E.) it has 1,500,000,000 and its sacred texts is the Qur'an To the Muslims, the Quran is Gods last word to the world. It states that both the Old and New Testaments are likewise divinely inspired, but have been altered by Christians and Jews. In any place where they conflict, the Bible is wrong and the Quran is correct; the Quran is the final authority Islams basic teaching, called the Islamic creed, consists of six basic beliefs, found throughout the Quran. The favorite creed of Islam is, There is no God but Allah, which is recited daily by the faithful Muslim.

God is a basic tenet of the Muslim faith.Another cherished belief of the Muslims is the belief in angels as messengers of Allah. That concept in Islam differs little from the biblical view. One of the most well-known figures of Islam is Abu Bakr. Many Muslims up to the current day will name their children after this man, who was a very close companion of the Prophet Muhammad and after his death became the first caliph, according to Sunnis. Abu Bakr was also the father of Ayesha, one of the Prophets wives.

this post, the first in a series on important figures in Islam, will be the life of this man who has influenced Islamic tradition immensely. Muslims have two major religious observances each year, Ramadan and Hajj, and corresponding holidays connected with each one. All Islamic holidays are observed according to the lunar-based Islamic calendar .
